I kind of like becoming more personal with people.

I use my handle as a signature, nothing more. I don't like being called SetupWeasel when people are having a conversation with me. My name is Joe and that's who I am.

One of my best friends, in his freshman year of college. Hung out with a group of people who met over an intracollege chat room. He was the only one who introduced himself by his real name. He found these people boring because they were trying to be something they weren't.

I try to be myself online even though I have taken care to find a unique name.

I like the internet because I can be more like myself. I don't have the same fears of rejection for some reason.

Sorry, I tend to ramble a little bit.

Thanks for leaving your "ramble" Jim - please don't take the stuff at the head of the page the wrong way. I agree the whole point IS to be yourself and it is easier to be that if people DON'T put you in boxes i.e. if I said that I was a 19 year old boy they would treat me differently than if I was a 50 year old woman
The anonymity allows us all to be just what we are - sometimes that's different things to different people (some people on the Net think that I am male and some that I am female - the point is should it matter? No - but it does to some people) It also allows us all to show different facets of ourselves and like most diamonds which have been cut I have many facets -- Now who's rambling ...
