al'reet Carol!

I think IV knows more Sheffielder's than I do! Thanks for dropping by, it's been quite lonely here smiley - winkeye

This living up the road thingy, well as great as IV is, her geography skills are a little, well, below par. I live in Hillsborough, out of interest is this indeed up the road from you?

I took a quick spin through your home page, you mention you like the Stereophonics, did you see them at the arena last year, I was there, they were great. Altho it's a little dissapointing to see that Stuart has left, I miss the 'hairy' drumkit effect!

Anyway, Speak soon

Hi

Again I apologise for my absence (done it twice already), It's a little rude of me, but i just seem to be like a headless chicken!

It's good to start speaking to people on here, especially in the local area. I've been around on here for years but never had much in the way of conversations, just a flame war over the article I wrote!

Yeah you certainly do live just up the road, I used to drive along Herris Road to get to work, and I will soon again as we're relocating to Wincobank. that's going to be a fine way to spend a weekend!

I must admit I like music as well the 15Gb's of MP3's on my hard drive probably gives that away smiley - winkeye Altho I don't tend to listen to a lot of radio. My current favorite is the new album by a band called Incubus, it's a difficult thing to pigeon hole, but it's rock with a bit of funk thrown in. I also like bands like Coldplay at one extreme and Fear Factory (I presume you've never heard of them, their best described as cyber-metal) at the other!

Yeah i liked the snow, I managed not to deck it this time tho, which was nice, I get enough bruises from karate as it is! I thought winter was over, but today we've had hail so anythings possible!

Anyway I should be around again soon, until then, Laters

Hi again, its ok no need to apologise for delay in reply.
So when are you relocting, can`t say that i know
Wincobank that well. l. I have lived in Sheffield all my life(mainly S5&6 and still have trouble going places smiley - smiley Altho i tend to know places by landmarks rather than road names.
I have never heard of a band/group called Fear Factory or Incubus, but cause i listen to radio alot i sometimes get a good variety...
So how long have u been going to Karate? What belt are you? I have never tried it myself.
I went to the pictures last week, and saw Starsky and Hutch, I enjoyed it mind you i cant remember the tv series so nothing relly to compare it to.

Well i hope to hear from you soon.

Man of Legend

Hi there,

We re-located this weekend, although I don't remember much about it, I was tired from a bad nights sleep on friday night. I doubt i'll get much sympathy though, cos it was alcohol induced!

I was looking after the computers during the move and I was glad when they all came back to life. I have lots of expierience with them but they just break when there in my hands, most of the time it's like watching your life slip away!

I can't say I can give you any landmarks in Wincobank, apart from the fact it overlooks Meadowhall, which I'm going to have to try and resist, that place could make a rich man poor. You need Sat-nav, the world will be a better place when we all have sat-nav, I certainly wish I had it, but it seems a bit pointless in a '96 Fiesta though.

It's very doubtful you'd hear Fear Factory on radio, they're quite an aquired taste. My car has a CD/MP3 player in it, so I can cram about 12 albums on a CD, which gives me loads of choise. It isn't made very well though and i've had to take it to pieces to get it to work.

Me and Karate, well I started when I moved to Secondary school, would have been the spring/summer of 1991, and stayed with it up until I went to uni in 1998, although the last coulpe of years (96-98) were constantly dogged with me have chunks of time off to do my college work. To this point I had got to Brown belt with 2 stripes, which is the one before Black Belt. I was quite disappointed I didn't make Black belt as I was only about 3 months away from taking the grading. The next 5 and 1/2 years saw me at uni, in Southampton working for IBM on a year out, and working some of the silliest hours know to man for PC World. Anyway in January I was in the pub one Friday, and one of my old teachers comes in, so I had a chat, found out where they were training and started up again in Feburary. Currently I'm trying to obtain some fitness because the last 5 years of my life have been a bit barren on the excercise front. I am really enjoying being back though, it's like a little hole in my life has been filed. Do you get the feeling this is one subject I could talk about for hours! smiley - winkeye

Talking of the pictures I've just been to see Shaun of the dead, laughed? I could have (un)died! If you haven't seen it go and watch it, it's an absolute classic. I also like the TV series Spaced, which involved the same cast and writing team, in fact the film is based on a scene in the show, but the characters are different between the TV and film.

Anyway I gotta go and sleep, got work tomorrow.

Hi Danny, now it is my turn to apologise for delay in reply, i have been very busy at wortk lately and other stuff happening IRL that has prevented me coming on here, altho i have been online every now n then but only to unsubscribe from conversations.
I know what u mean about Meadowhall, it could also make a rich woman poor, infact am going to Meadowhall this afternoon going shopping with a mate n her son.
I dont know Wincobank well think i may have driven through it once or twice but never stopped.
I have a fiesta also but am thinking of getting a new car towards the end of the year. Although i might get one on impulse, the only thing stopping me will be the cost of insurance but in June i turn 25 so hopefully it will come down again. Will just have to wait and see!
Wow Karate does seem to be something that you can chat about.smiley - biggrin
I have not seen Shaun of the dead. Am wanting to go and see a few films which includes the new harry potter film. i have read 4 of the books( reading is something that i love) just give me a good book and a drink and i'm happy smiley - smiley

Anyway must go for now

Man of Legend

Good evening,

These weeks when I find time to reply do come around quite quickly, and seeing as I make wholesale replies to everyone in the same night, it certainly requires no apology from you regarding delays smiley - smiley

I hope life's calmed down a little bit for you now, it's good when you have lots of good things to do, but if there not so good, I know how that can drag people down.

Yeah good old Meadowhall, my sister has just entered the promotion for free flights, I believe you needed £250 worth of receipts from Meadowhall stores in April! Fortunately (I think) all of her receipts were from our and her boyfriends family, but they were only things that they'd bought for her birthday anyway. She doesn't know see's born that one!

The car plan you have, 100% agree. In fact that's about the same as my plan, but my 25th is in December so I have to wait a little longer smiley - sadface Unless my company give me a car first that is! Any idea's what you might get, I'm thinking of a used Fiesta Zetec-S (the last style of fiesta's) or maybe a SEAT Leon, Although I quite like the new Citreon C2, but it might be a little small for me. Slightly more expensive, either a Mini (my boss has a Cooper S and it is phenominal) or a Honda Civic Type R. Anyway (pulls himself from cloud cuckoo land) that'll have to wait for now .

Taken yourself off to the flicks yet? I saw Kill Bill Vol 2 this week, I quite enjoyed it, but there was little else to do in Chester this week (I was doing some training for my job). I saw the first Harry Potter film, and was certainly entertained by it. However I've not read the books, I might try and get to read them at some point. At the moment I have just started reading Terry Pratchet, so I have about 20-odd books to catch up on. I also like Douglas's work, and own the book, the radio series (cd and scripts), the TV series, and a buried copy of the Amiga computer game of the Hitch Hikers Guide, plus other things like the Dirk Gently books.

Anyway, hope to hear from you soon (and I might even reply soon)

Hi again, well with regard to a car i have certain criteria that need to be filled smiley - biggrin it has to have power steering,alarm,5 door( cause i think my dad is getting on abit to b clambering over seats lol.....) would like central loking but its not essential... i dont want a big engine cause that too will bump up the insurance!
I'm thinking of either a corsa or a clio..... but am hoping to change in july.... or at the latest december....
I've always wanted a corsa so i will probably get one if those... preferably a dark colour... not right keen on bright colours lol...stand out abit more...

Things are still busy with me IRL got alot of heatlth problems with family at the moment, including myself....smiley - smiley will it ever end!

Not been to the flicks yet... to b honest i have not had the time with work n other stuff....
But its my birthday soon (yippee)so i'll b out then... i'm hoping to be having some time off work soon but i'm not holding my breath....

Well i have seen 2 films of harry potter and i would definately reccommmed this new one that is coming out next month cause i thought it was a fantastic book to read....(the prisoner of azkaban)(sp) not got round to reading the 5th book, at the moment i'm reading a book by William Woodrough(sp) called "the road to nab end" i'm enjoying it though it is an autobiography of sorts... i have got tonnes of books to read... but my problem is i cant stop buying them smiley - biggrin i love reading (when i get time that is)

I have just finished decorating my bedroom which is something that i have been planning for months but have done bits n pieces over the last few weeks and now i'm glad its done... oddly enough i dont mind decorating, i find it strangely relaxing smiley - smiley

Anyway i must go for now. i trust all is well with you

Man of Legend

Hi there,

Well it's been a couple of weeks again, still mad as ever. I've managed to sleep most of the way through today, I'm well shattered. Thankfully I've got this next week off, so I'm going to catch up on some sleep, and then try and do things in the afternoons, although I haven't quite worked out what yet smiley - winkeye

Any luck with a new car yet? I don't think you'll have any problems getting that equipment on a post 2000 car. I've been in a Clio and I was quite impressed, they are built well (you can usually tell by the sound the doors make as you close them, and if things don't look like they'll fall off/break). Not been in a corsa but the new one looks great in black. From what I remember both have a 1.2 litre 16 valve option, which mean decent perfomance and economy, while still being low in insurance and tax. If you want a look round a few go to one of those car supermarkets (the one at crystal peaks is a nicer atmosphere than the one at catcliff, mentioning no names!) then have a hunt round for a good deal.

Other than Karate, which I wont bore you with smiley - winkeye I've just finished The Fifth Elephant by Terry Pratchett, and will soon be starting The Truth. Can't Say as I've heard of William Woodrough, but then me in a bookshop is quite a rare sight, and even then I tend to look at technical books. I have noticed a biography of DNA kicking about that I would like to read, but it was £19, might have to find another source for that!

Yeah I don't mind decorating, I decorated my room from scratch about 8 to 10 months ago. It's now a light grey on the walls, with a silver metallic paint on the skirting and door frames, deep blue carpet and limed maple and brushed steel units. I used to watch a lot of DIY programmes as a student and I think it served me quite well. I even consulted on the living room, which looks good bar the curtains, but I would go to great lengths to point out that they weren't my choice! How've you done yours?

I hope this message finds you all in better health and a nicer RL situation. I had a lot of RL issues when I was in my last job, and I was just a ball of self pity (one of my journal entries will give you a good idea), but everythings a lot better now.

Anyway hope to hear from you soon and i'll get back to you as soon as I can.

I hope that you are well smiley - smiley.
I`m ok just been real busy, not been on here a great deal.... things are still abit hectic in RL but am doing ok.
Did you have a nice week off work??.
I am hoping to have a week off soon(fingers crossed), and i`ll be able to catch up on things.
No luck with a new car yet, i have not really had the time to look. But i know what i want to get so it`s just finding the time. I have not been in either a new clio or corsa but i do like the look of the corsa.....
So what have you been upto???
Hows Karate going?
I have finished reading some books but have got plenty to keep me going smiley - smiley I have just started reading a book by Dan Brown "the da vinci code" which some1 recommended.

Well in my newly decorated bedroom i have wall papered it, it`s a nice lilac/purple colour. With matching border and i have put some "greek key" metallic designs on the walls too. I have not got round to getting the new units to match the wardrobe yet but i`ll get there this year i hope.smiley - smiley
I have lived her for nearly 4 yrs and the be bedroom n kitchen are the only rooms i did not not decorate til now... altho i`m not decorating the kitchen cause i like it the way it is...

Health wise all is ok, much the same really, usual aches and pains but there is no point complaining/grumbling cause it wont change it...

Anyway i have got a few more posts to catch up on before ppl think i`m being ignorant

Man of Legend

Alright there,

Good to hear from you again, I was begining to think you'd fallen out of the book of life (don't ask me, Crazy saying my mom has!). I know how the weeks just seem to melt into each other, just this week I was speaking to a mate who I haven't seen since new year and that only feels like a couple of months ago! you've managed to catch me on quite a quiet weekend, I haven't left the house! I got in on friday night and superglued myself to my bed.

You bedroom sounds like it's comming on, My sister has a purple bedroom, and I mean purple! yours sounds a little more subtle, which is never a bad thing. I still get headaches when I go in her room smiley - winkeye Units are always the worst things to get, cos there expensive, heavy, and if there flat pack, never go up right or there's bits missing, mentioning no names (MFI, sorry that just slipped out!)

Anyway, I'm alright seem to be living at 1000mph during the week and catching up at weekends (hence the first paragraph). Work is the major culprit making me get up at 7am (you have to remember I was a student till not too long ago), then I go and drive myself into the ground at karate 3 nights a week, plus a late night on thursdays for pool, I understand why I looked sick when I was training on friday! Karate itself is going well, been doing a lot of kata (set forms of moves) during the past couple of weeks, which looks to have helped my technique out a bit. I'm still fighting to get rid of my well nurtured beer belly, which doesn't seem to be getting the message it's not wanted anymore!

From what I remember my week off was alright, it was just catching up on sleep really, which got cancelled out after one bad night anyway. It sounds like you need a week off, so get it booked!

Glad to hear you had a good birthday, and your not getting old

As for books and films. I finished The Truth and now on Night Watch, by Pratchett. Also got some Karate books while I was on my week off, which includes a couple of books on kata and technique and one that is the auto-biography of Master Gichin Funakoshi, who is widely regarded as the forefather of modern karate-do (the way of karate), which a very enlightening read. A very humble man who brought karate to the world. On the films side went to see Shrek 2 last week, which is well funny, and some Monty Python stuff that I bought on DVD "He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy!". On the Harry Potter film, I haven't seen it, but books and films, sometimes they work and others they don't, although I think the director was different for this film, which might have altered things. I think the only book I'll read before it gets to the cinema is hitchhikers (which IS going into production, allegedly) or maybe some of Pratchett's, which I believe some famous names want to do the voices for.

Anyway I think this reply will have taken enough of your time to read! So take care of yourself speak again soon, well soon-ish! smiley - winkeye

Man of Legend

Hello,

Hey it's looks like I'm getting good at this replying lark. It's probably about time though!

Nice to see you've taken some time off, it's even better when you know you deserve it smiley - smiley and it certainly sounds like you've got this whole relaxing thing down to a tee. You definately picked a good day to go to the beach, today was a little overcast, but I hope it gets better for you. In fact I was driving back from Bakewell today and it was foggy!!! I'd come the long way back from Derby as I'd been to a mate's weeding yesterday, which was a fantastic day. I largely try to avoid the sun as I burn quite easily, I had sunstroke as a child and i don't think i've known pain like it since.

Book recommendations??? well seeing as i've been banging on about him for ages it would have to be a Terry Pratchett one. The first one I read was called Guards! Guards!, it's about the night watch, whose ranks include Sam Vimes (the cunning, in a good way, Captain), Corporal Carrott (the human who believes he's a dwarf), and Colon and Nobbs, who are in a (under) class of there own!.

I've not spoke to IV for a while, I think starting to speak to her on MSN messenger was a bad idea, as I speak to her less than I did before. I don't know why just worked out like that I guess, I do usually catch her when she's got a busy status. She does send jokes by e-mail tho, which are usually very funny. I will have to send her an e-mail/message/post soon.

How did the shopping trip go? bought anything nice/you can discuss in this forum? smiley - winkeye

As I remember the Ikea in Leeds is very easy to find, it's dead on the M62. It'll probably tell you on the website what junction to take etc. I've never been to one, but I had a house mate at uni who used to swear by it, and now he lives the dream in London! Although any link with shopping at Ikea and living in the capital have yet to be proved!

Thankfully I have no call for using the buses, as I use a car most of the time, and live a 2 minute walk from Hillsborough tram stop, for when I go to the Pub in town. However my Mom does use them, I'm usually the one that cops the backlash when we all get in. She doesn't like using them anyway cos there never on time and the drivers can be a bit rude, but now there off, I think she'd like to string them up. I think it's a little quieter on the road than you would expect because the kids are in the six week holiday. If this is still going on in September then I think all hell will break loose.

I don't usually use that bit of Penistone Road, but i'm glad it's gone, it would have caused some right heartache on Saturday afternoons otherwise.

My works going well, I'm now starting to get into it more now, so i'll start to be consumed by logic blocks and software and stuff, who knows where it'll all end up.

Anyway There's been far to many tangents for this time of night, so i'm gonna rest my head (and my fingers!).

Hope your week off is relaxing, I want no reports of repetative strain injury from turning those book pages!

Keep well and speak soon.

Dan

Hi, again...

Forgot to mention, seeing as you asked, Karate is going well. I think I'll be taking part in a black belt grading next week, although I wont be grading. Still it should be a good experience and hopefully I should be able to gauge how far off I am from taking the grade myself. I'm hoping it's going to be before the end of the year.

Right now I'm off to wonder how I forgot to talk about Karate!

Hi Danny, how are you?
Well i`m back at work now, and I had a great time off, only wish it was a longer holiday, oh well never mind.
Well the weather has been very changable of late, the other week I actually thought I would be paddling to work on that tuesday morning lol.
It was shocking.... well i think our summer is over, what do you reckon?
Well I did not get as much reading done as I thought I would when I was off work but i`m still going at a steady pace. While I was off i managed to buy the "complete collection " of Inpector Morse books.. to add to my collection lol.
I keep on buying books and I cant read them quick enough smiley - smiley
To be honest I have never read any Terry Pratchett books but i`m sure i`ll be able to borrow one from my mate... she buys books by the car load .... think she should be called "bookworm" smiley - smiley

Have you heard from IV yet? I also recieve plenty of joke emails from her infact she may even forward jokes to you that I send to to her.
Shopping trip went well. We actually went to Ikea at Nottingham not Leeds. But its a big place. I got some pictures and was looking as some furniture too. They do have a good(cheap) selection of picture frames and pictures,, as well as a nice cafe(where you get FREE refils of tea/coffee) smiley - smiley
Well the bus drivers are back now and the footy season has also started... it`s SWFC you support isn`t it?? They are playing Huddersfield tomorrow?.
I`m not really into into footy but I keep an eye out on the local teams. My mate is a keen SUFC supporter.
I`m off to see Bryan Adams in October at the arena. that should be a good night out hopefully.
Have you done anything interesting of late or have you been busy working??
Well i hope all is well
Take care

Man of Legend

Hi Carol,

Summer, yes we've had a summer, it's just a shame it's been the same kind of summer the amazon rain forest has! I'm thinking of attaching floats to the side of the fiesta so I can navigate Britain's newest river, the M1. Down the motorway you now measure your speed in knots! The water on the M1 caused me to take 3 and 1/2 hours to get from Liecster last Friday. If there is one good thing at least I could wear football boots in the park today. It's just a little kick about with some mates, but I scored a right goal, I lobbed the keeper form about 20 yards, I swear Chris Turner was going to sign me on the spot!

Despite the weather it's good to hear your holiday was alright. Down time is great when you spend it doing what you wanted. I'm off to the states next month. I'm going to Florida, all I want is my photo taken with Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, and Donald Duck. I'm just wondering if it's not allowed for a bloke of 24 to hug a Disney character.

You certainly don't mess about when you buy books, that Inspector Morse series must be about 20 books, Waterstones must love you!

I've got through another Terry Pratchett book, Mort, which is about Death and his trainee apprentice and things like fate and lots of 'HOLLOW CAPITALS'. I'm going to start on Reaper Man tonight, which is the second in the death series. They're well worth a read, if you can borrow some of them. From what you said, you sound like you've got a fair few books, but you have a friend that ownes more! does she have a library! I'd certainly go with bookworm as a description.

I've still not Spoke to IV for a while, she's always online, but she's always busy, I ought to write her a message in the discussion string on here. I got those e-mails you sent on, very funny, I enjoyed the picture of the speedo. If I had to change the speedo in the fiesta, it would read 'it's a bit shakey' at 60MPH cos it shakes like hell and scares me to death, and at 100MPH it would say 'I can't do this speed!'.

You got to Ikea then, glad to hear you found stuff to your liking. If I move out I'll have to pay a visit down there myself I think. Unfortunatley I wouldn't find much use in the cafe as I don't drink tea or coffe, however i could go with refills of hot choc.

Yeah I'm an Owl, we won yesterday and now we are 4th in League 1, or the 3rd division as it should be known. The blades finally won a game on friday, but i don't get into any of that petty interclub rivallry.

You're off to see Bryan Adams, as my mom would say, 'Is he still No. 1?' It should be a good night, he has quite a lot of good material.

Lastly me, doing things interesting, well I don't like to mention the cross arctic treking I do! You seemed to guess it pretty much just working, and Karate, I got kicked in the head at that black belt grading, which was nice! Now I'm desperately trying to think of interesting things to stop me appearing boring smiley - winkeye No, can't think of anything, I'm boring , I hope your happy now .

Only joking, Have a good one!

So how are you? How was your holiday in the states?? I hope you had a great time and managed to get your photo taken with Goofy and co, am sure its not strange for someone of your age to have you photo taken with a disney character.

Things are ok with me, things busy as usual and i`m also on holiday next week yippee. smiley - smiley

I am a book worm lol and my friend is too. I did not get the inspector morse books from a shop called The Works, they were selling the complete collection for under £20. Which i thought was good. LOL i have not read any of them yet, have not been doing alot of reading lately, been too busy and too tired...
Its colder now....brrr.
The clocks will be going back soon...an extra hour in bed smiley - smiley

Am sorry this is short,
