Sorry it took so long to respond. I'm in college and I don't have time to check h2g2 very often. Yeah, I dig jazz and swing. Big Bad Voo Doo Daddy rules! I also like Big Tubba Mista, though they aren't nearly as well known. I have been downloading swing mp3's off mp3.com I have been surprised by the quality of some of them. I play trombone, and I'm trying to find some people to play with me in a swing band this summer. One of my friends who is still in high school plays a mean saxophone. I am not sure whether I like to play jazz more, or dance to it more. For awhile I was swing dancing every week, but then I got busy with school work and all. The problem is that there is no place to swing whenever I want to. The only opportunity I have to swing is on Monday nights when the swing club at my college meets. No swing opportunities on Friday, when I actually have time to do stuff. I wish I could go dancing right now, but alas, I am on my computer, typing away. What fun.

swing music is such a pickerupper...which is what i need right now cause im so damn exhausted...
is it hard to swing dance? me and my friends have always wanted to learn, but were still in high school and no ones got a clue how to go about taking lessons or going to dances...

Swing dancing isn't really hard. The basic step (aka single lindy) is very simple. It is just step 2 step 4 rock step. Unfortunately there is really no good way to explain it. The hardest part to learn is that the step is six counts, but all the music is in four-four. It takes awhile to get used to, but after that it is pretty easy. There are hard moves, but there are a lot of easy ones too. It is a lot of fun. Unfortunately there are very few places to go swing dancing where I live.

i suppose i can only dream about doing those fancy moves they do on music videos etc... i used to love cherry poppin daddies - they had a catchy song but i cant remember what its called. ah well!
