Thoughts on Idiot Builders

....electricians and smart carpenters and laminate fitters....
Well, when the previous laminate was removed, further proof that our builder is a nutter emerged - not only had he laid the membrane over building dust he laid the chipboard flooring slightly DAMR 
- the resulting fusty mess was 
!!!
Our carpenter type is of the new sort - smart ...allthough a tad over enthusiastic (as he accidentally tore a live electric cable with his 4 foot crow bar )...which resulted in an emergency electrician being called out to fix it and to add a couple of additional sockets in the kitchen...whereupon due to the rewiring undertaken last year a insulation fault was discovered - after 2 days head scratching the company that re-wired the place said 'Maybe it's a fault with the boiler' - it isn't, they just shouldn't have put the boiler on the ring main as it has a battery safety backup...
...
And, joy of joys, the laminate fitter is sensible and a craftsman 
- so the house is beginning to look less like a building site andmore like a desirable residence worth money ....
...more when I have time....

...which pleasantly it didn't do for the duration of my visit / helping Tabs settle in to her new house and job ...
Well what news - the 
s have settled in quickly and appear to 
the place - Oedi has already tried scrounging off a neighbour by doing his patented 'I'm a poor starving ' impression 
....and Baggins has been beaten up by the landlords little black and white Kooky and is trying to make friends with their other a HUGE Tom called Bruno in the mistaken belief that he is related to Tabs former Hopi....
The people in the village are generally freindly - even the chavvy types are reasonably well behaved in daylight (probably 'cos they'd get a slap from their Mam's or Gradmas 
) allthough you can only get Woodpecker 
up there 
...
Not much else to report apart from the house is brilliant and the views are pleasing...
