Hi, it's nice to meet you too. But don't go running off at the words chemistry and Cambridge - it's just making coffee in pretty surroundings. I was only trying to follow in Douggy Adams' footsteps but I'd never have got in to do English! Actually, I just made that up. Had a nosy round your pages - join h2g2 and read someone else's diary! And now I'm wondering if you're an ageless, genderless, middle-aged Australian woman who does cool stuff like go to the theatre while I'm stuck in a lab mixing potions and slowly poisoning myself?

I find it interesting that you assume that I am a middleaged woman - the Australian bit I'll own up to

Yeah but I think I might be wrong - give me three guesses for a few age and gender variables? No points for Australian 'cos you already said it. Just thought I'd try a little stereotype-bating, see if you'd come out! For the record I hate being labelled too. Like if I was a hyper-intelligent and sophisticated high-school student (was that another guess?) I'd hate to be treated like a kid on grounds of age. I get put in a box for race and being a student, but I've put some distance between myself and that world (until now!) The way people see themselves and the way they react to those check-boxes on forms asking for their gender and ethnic background is kind of interesting though. Anyway, hats off to you for not playing!
Me.

Hmm, hyper-intelligent high school student... Sounds familiar... Oh, i agree with what your saying about stereotyping. I deliberately stated my age and nationality to see if I got any discriminative responses. At least so far no one's mentioned sheep...
