Dear Kanga, have met you on many threads and I think it's time our friendship became official. So can I add you to friends list please?
Thanks for your support with Alex.

I also remember one comment you made on the Bad Poetry Thread, some months back, about a poem which you thought was really rather good.
I thought so too. Maybe you remember it, it reminded me of Oma Khyam!

I'm in Woodend, and you're on the Mornington Peninsular. Not that far away, relatively speaking! I'm English, but have lived in Vic for 22 years now. I've liked most of your comments and entries very much, but have never got round to asking for your friendship. I'm adding you, I hope that's alright with you,
Look forward to seeing you round the threads, All the Best Vismiley - smiley

I am honoured to be your friend Vi, but to be honest I am not a very outgoing type, so do not expect too much of me. I have recently been awarded an OBE by my golfing mates (thats Over Bloody Eighty) and also qualify as a POP. That's Poor Old Pensioner.

I tried to moderate a discussion that seemed to be getting a little heated but sometimes the words one writes as dictated by one's own thought processes are sometimes seen differently from another's viewpoint. I'm afraid humankind is ill equipped to properly duplicate communications. I was a bit surprised at Jab for raising this thread as it could only cause division. I do think he put it out with tongue in cheek but it seems to have misfired.

Hello Kanga, Congratulations on your O.B.E., that's a mere baby in this day and age. I've worked in several old peoples places, and you're a young stripling. I worked with one lady of 107, I think she's still going strong. Two of the ladies I liked best were 95+, they were very erect, loved walking, and had the greatest sense of humour,
also v. kind and could keep me giggling for hours on end. Another lady was in her mid-nineties, I could hardly believe it when I found out. She struck me (an immediate and ongoing impression) as being a ravishing beauty, she was blind, through a doctors negligence, but otherwise was very capable.
Becoming friends with lots of these people made me realize how irrelevant age is. Much more important is having things in common.

I'm not very outgoing either. Yes Jabs srarted the thread tongue in cheek, CoolAlex didn't understand that point of view, and got my goat. Jabs and I have conversed since, and I looked up Alex's background. Poor fellow has big problems, both physical and psychological. Jabs had found him and wanted to help him, by introducing him to our group.

I didn't know of Alex's probs, if I had, I would've been a lot gentler, but I was rather infuriated by his ignorance, and lack of insight. Oh well, I must learn to look before I leap. I must be a hypocrite, as I get angry with people who make judgements about others without having the facts.

Yes, English is a fairly inadequate language, apparently Russian has far more words to deal with all the nuances of communication.

Lovely to hear from you, are you an Aussie born and bred? I always like your posts.
All best wishes andsmiley - hugsmiley - hug Vi.

I have been having a bit of trouble with the computer lately and last week it would not start at all. Every time I get it fixed it comes back strangely changed. This time the tech. installed a new anti-virus (apparently I did not have one) which I suspect has slowed things down a bit. Also a magnifying button on the toolbar, of which I was quite fond, has vanished. Possibly the whole toolbar has gone. I'm a bit vague sometimes. Most times.

Yes, I was born in Oz. Born and bred in Coburg not far from the railway station. I was somewhat gloomed to find my birthplace is now covered by a Supermarket. Such disrespect.

I am third generation Australian. Most of my forebears were Scottish, some Irish and probably a few Poms. Where would people named Yeoman be likely to originate? Anyway if we go back far enough we are all related.

I had to smile at Paul's description of his living quarters. It seems we have more in common than hootoo.

Cheers, Lew.

Hiya Kanga, Sorry to be late in my reply. Yeoman must surely be of English origin. It's pretty cold down here in Woodend at the moment. How're things on the Mornington Peninsular. Just going to Melbourne is like entering another country, - the climate is so different. There was snow on Mount Macedon last week, (or so I heard).

I missed Paul's bit about his living arrangements. Is he American or Canadian? Canadian I always imagine. It's time for my final cuppatea and then bed. Many hugs to yousmiley - hugsmiley - hug

Hi Vi, nice to hear from you again. I was wondering if I had said something wrong. Mind you, there is no obligation to be frequent as it is not always easy to fit everything in. I am a great procrastinator myself and thoughts move through my head like a fly walking through treacle.
I think Paul is an American. He must live alone as I do, since he described his living arrangements as one of unmade beds and cluttered rooms.
Melbourne does have its own climate, probably due to the amount of concrete and car fumes. Rosebud is slightly cooler in summer as North winds arrive across thirty miles of water.

I have already felt colder this winter than I have for the past few years.

I don't like it!

Cheers.
