Apology Accepted
Emmy, Baroness Bikini Beachwear Babe of Bubsterland Posted Oct 27, 2000
Of course, I accept your apology BB. I can understand your point of view. I'm not the type of person to hold a grudge against someone that has gone out of their way to apologize to me. Consider us made up.
I'm very tired right now so if I babble or don't make any sense please take that into consideration.
Here's my point of view:
In my "real life", I work 8 to 12 hours a day, go to school 3 nights a week with one of those being the Calculus class from hell that I spend almost all of the rest of my time working on. Basically, these days, I'm a tired, frazzled wreck. Therefore, you can understand I'm sure how reading that totally hit me the wrong way. I do think had you not used the word "cheat" and used a winkey smiley instead of a frowning one, I would have caught on that you were joking. However, with my mind not currently firing on all cylinders, it totally escaped me that you were joking. I took it as it read - that you thought I cheated.
Basically, we misunderstood each other. Something that happens in every day life because, unfortunately, nobody is perfect. Once again, I'm willing to let by gones be by gones.
As for the competition: First of all, I would never, even if you hadn't apologized and explained things, tell you not to have it. You have the right to have any type of competition you choose. I don't mind you continuing at all. I would never tell you not to. I'm just not sure if I'm going to participate in it as of yet.
As I've explained earlier, my on line time these days is very limited. I basically go to Floor 42 and come here to my home page to check for messages. Thus the reason this all happened now. It's the first chance I've had to actually totally read the page you posted. So I'm not sure I can make the appearances required and such.
So, feel free to go ahead with your contest. My "bikini" has been part of my on line presence for years now and winning or loosing the bikini contest here won't change that.
To be honest, I'm really not sure how I feel about entering the contest because I'm too blasted tired to think straight. I'll have to decide later.
Now, hopefully, you've understood that the whole point I'm trying to make here is that I forgive you and would never tell you not to have the contest - with or without my involvement.
I'll take down my page here after I've had some sleep. Too tired to do it now.

I'm glad that I'm forgiven, and once again I am sorry for upsetting you.
I'm sorry if I contributed to any stress that you've caused - I know how stress can affect you and I have often jumped to the wrong conclusion about things, snapped at people I didn't intend to. I've also felt insulted through mis-reading what someone has written to me in a letter - this hasn't been the first time that something I've said has been misunderstood, and I am sure it won't be the last time. We're human, and we make these mistakes.
It is inevitable - but that does not mean that I do not feel guilty about upsetting you. I am truly sorry for upsetting you, and I'll definately do all I can to make sure that I don't make a stupid mistake like this again.
I'm glad that you don't mind the competition carrying on, but I think it would be a shame if you did pull out. No-one would blame you, and yes it is true that you won't win anything exciting if you did win the contest, but then you wouldn't lose anything if you did lose. I can, however, say that you've definately got a VERY strong support base and a good group of friends who, I feel, are definately 100% behind you and want you to win.
But the decision is yours, and in truth you have done more than enough to say that you have forgiven me for my error, and you have even apologised even though the mistake really was mine and not yours, and you did not need to apologise.
So I'm glad we're at peace.
*Gratefully accepts peace margarita, and offers Emmy a c)_( of tea*

I'm actually the caffeineiest, from what I know. *looks at sadly half-empty 2-liter bottle of Coke sitting alongside*
I...don't...remember drinking it! Waaaaaaah! *sobs uncontrollably*

The problem I have now is the part in the rules about making appearances in different places.
It's not that I don't want to socialize. It's:
A) As I've mentioned before, my on line time is very limited these days.
and
B) I'm afraid the others that hang out at these places won't want me there if that makes any sense. I'm not sure what they're opinion of me is after all of this. And I'm basically (believe it or not) a shy person. It took the Floor 42er's months of coaxing at douglasadams.com to get me to go there. Of course, once I did, I fit right in and everything was fine. So I guess I'm kinda nervous after the whole thing about what others reaction to me will be.
So, anyone that reads this, what do you think? Give it a shot and hope for the best (since winning really doesn't matter)?
And, BB, how many appearances are required?

Emmy.
First of all, the question of appearances. Strictly speaking, two are required, one on the beach, one in the pool. You've already been on the beach in the "The Beach - Bikinis On Patrol" thread, so you only have to make one more post. Just go to any thread off of the Swimming Pool page here:
http://www.h2g2.com/A358823?skin=classic
and say hi in any that you fancy. Whether you hang around after making one post is up to you - but I can assure you that no-one I've known or seen has said anything bad against you in any way. If you still feel shy, you could even start your own swimming-pool related thread there, invite a lot of the people you know on h2g2 to go there with you and enjoy a conversation surrounded by people you like. Or just tell them which thread you plan to go to, and meet them all there. It's all a bit of fun.
And from experience I know that if anyone did say that could hurt your feelings that you would be protected by extremely loyal friends, and I would also report the incident to Peta. People just think of it as being one of those things that happen in life - who here hasn't said the wrong thing or interpreted something the wrong way or had something they have said misinterpreted?
I'm sure people will not react in any negative way, and just be happy to have someone else to talk to.
So if I were you I'd go for it and re-enter the competition. Ask your friends if they can think of any reason why not, and if they think you should re-enter the competition, why not?
