ouch...
Posted Oct 9, 2001
...I've been meaning to come by for a while, but you know how it is.
Yesterday, however, I got a very polite note from the moderators, stating that *someone* was accusing me of plagarism. Supposedly my 'how to run a LARP' article was a "word for word" transcription of something written by White Wolf, Inc.
B******s.
Fortunately, a few phone calls cleared everything up. It turns out that the accusation of plagarism came from a third party - not the fine lawyers at White Wolf. Great. Some gamer gets a wild hair up his ass, and I nearly lose an article on H2G2. Bummer.
But, as I say, it was all sorted out. But, fellow researchers, be aware! If the moderators get jumpy and pull an article of yours, make sure the complaint is fully substantiated, before panicking (don't panic, forsooth) and then be nice when you talk to the Moderators - they're just trying to cover their butts. They don't like flesh-eating lawyers (or the threat of them) any more than you do.

After a long absence, I have decided to stop by the ol' Guide again, submit a few entries to be rejected (although one of them has been accepted into the guide, yay!) and generally poke around...

Well, I have decided to move my daily ramblings to my website at http://members.tripod.com/~johanna_mead/journal/ramhome.html so I will no longer be posting stuff of that nature here.
Now maybe, with luck, I'll start using this journal as the editors intended...

Today is another quiet day. Last night was a little harried. My mother got knocked down by a migrane and asked Alex and I to take the family out for the evening.
We fell back on food and books and that seemed to work out pretty well.
*sigh* What's the point of web pages if no-one ever visits the dam' things? Maybe my site isn't registered with enough search engines, or - more likely - my content isn't that interesting. But still, I make a point of trying to keep all the links functional and to change content every week so the site doesn't get stale, but they still ain't coming.
This probably has something to do with my refusal to use animated gifs, java popups or even little musical interludes to amuse the visitor. Those are all bandwidth hogs and, like a good sauce over a bad cut of meat, can't hide a bad site and just waste the visitor's time.
Ah, a meeting demands my presence. That's what I get for writing this at work.

Well, I misspoke myself. Yesterday heralded the arrival of my father's brother, his wife and their daughter - aka my Uncle Clive, my Aunt Anne and my cousin Alison.
Unexpected, but extremely cool. I'm still assimilating the fact that they're on the same continent as me, never mind the same zip code.
But chaos still looms. Tips for surviving immediate pre-wedding crazies will be appreciated.
In other news, the Star Wars merchandizing juggernaut in the US kicked in with a veangence over the weekend. I'm such a consumer - I couldn't resist little Phantom Menace lego people, and a little Lego likeness of Darth Maul now sits beside my desk. Of course, I think this is unspeakably cool.
Not much time to blather today, I actually have things to do.
Today's thought: lots of vodka always *seems* like a good idea at the time...
