Polishing on 'Sub-editing and Lost Art...'

Hi John,

I've been assigned to polish your entry 'Sub-editing and the Lost Art of Rejection' for possible inclusion in the Underguide. It looks really solid, so probably won't need much modification, if any. So far all I've noticed was that "dickensian" might need to be capitalized (I mean, capitalised!) but as you can see, I still don't have a handle on British English. Or if you really prefer it with lower-case d, that's fine too.

Anyhow, I've copied your entry to a new page at A3170936, which allows Underguide polishers and editors to play with it or lock it into a final form for possible appearance on the front page. I'll let you know about any modifications that I want to make, and we can discuss it. Then the UG editors would look it over, then they'd submit it to the h2g2 editors, and if all goes well, front page. I haven't gone over it all yet, so I'll post another message here when I'm finished. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Deidzoeb smiley - cheers

Done. I couldn't find anything else desperately needing a change, so all I did was add the Underguide graphic and add some fertilizer to the first letter in "dickensian" until it attained full height. Let me know if there's anything else you'd like changed, or if we should arm-wrestle over the capital D in dickensian. If you approve of it as it stands, let me know that too so I can tell the UG editors that it's all set to go.

Thanks,
Deidzoeb

Crikey, that was fast! I was just about to reply to your first post when I noticed your second.

I'm not fussy about the D or the d, whatever you think is best; although I am slightly inclined towards d as the adjective has been a part of the language too long for Dickens to feel too proprietorial about it at this stage. smiley - winkeye

Thanks, Deidzoeb.

I've just noticed that there are a couple of odd line breaks in the rejection comments. They may be left over from ancient times when the comments were a part of my Sub-ed email.

Thanks.

Oops, sorry... Rachel Welch should, of course, be Raquel Welch. smiley - blush
