JtG,
you seem to be present here even more than me!
How does your garden grow?

.
...With silver bells and cockle shells; but precious few pretty maids, I'm afraid.

I've been trying to summon up the energy to write another user page. It's been two weeks, I think, since I last wrote anything more than a quip in a forum. It's too damned hot!

How are things with you?

Great!!
Bloody work tomorrow, thundered all night with accompanying storm, close and 30°C plus and I seem to spend more time in front of my computer since some b*stard started this h2g2.
I must get on with some serious playing. I have been forced to change provider and telephone company 'cos of this place.

I watched some IBM exec. the other night warning European businesses about falling behind in the 'Net commerce race. He likened the tolls people pay for 'Net access to charging shoppers for walking down he street. Phone service here has always been cheap: no charge local calls and reasonably priced long distance. Telephone Internet providers are also inexpensive.

I have just cancelled Compuserve after over 3 years . 25 $ a month plus telepone costs of 6 german pence (2 UK pence) per minute and I have worked out that I could have bought a new computer with that lot!
I am now using Yahoo as a server but still pay 6 p (german)/minute for server and 'phone.
We get a bad deal here as consumers (compared to the US) it seems to me, when I was in the UK last month though I was appalled at the cost of beer, food and diesel (note order of importance) compared to Germany!

The cost of living here has risen over the past few years. When we came over in ' 71, it was the land of milk and honey (and steak and beer). Now it seems more like the land of lotteries (and beer).

Re: pretty maids. Now down to one. Hardly enough to call a row. Things are getting dire.
