Are you planning to do a bit of meteor watching this weekend?

As you know, this will be the second year we've attempted to have a worldwide meteor watch here on h2g2 - the first year was a bust with most of the northern hemisphere socked in behind clouds if you recall.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A411111 will show you what I'm talking about and http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A612389 is where you can put the 2001 results if you're interested in taking part.

I think we're in store for some clear skies this time, only the last-quarter moon will be shining after midnight so really dim meteors will be lost in the moonshine (the light, not the booze! smiley - winkeye).

If you're interested, I'll try to add you to the project pages in the very near future!

All the best! smiley - ale

Was that really almost a year ago?

Time does fly doesn't it...

I'm not planning to arrange for any counting on h2g2 this year, since every time I do, I'm clouded out... I'm trying to out-smart the sky this year and plan to enjoy the shower with my daughters. smiley - ok

Oh, and I've updated the Observatory finally!

smiley - cheers

I'll be out there if it is (haha) clear and might take some recordings. I'll also sty some photography of it. Thankfully the moon will be good (well arranged my friend).

I think I might have seen a bright one allready as I was camping under clouds last week when a streak of light flashed across the sky and lit the clouds. At least I guess it was a meteor, though maybe I'm seeing aliens again.

I'm not raising my daughter's hopes this year so it should be clear.

Well yestoday I finally found a perfect place for observing at least some of the perseid clouds which is on our flat roof. It's now got a safe protective layer and is hghish so should get a good view of the clouds out of the list of streetlights.
