Post 1

Dr Hell

Please Mr. Tango, I would like to hear more about ignoring me, and how the rest of "us" does it. That might tip the balance for me in a number of ways.

No. What *exactly* do you mean Tango? And who is US?

Ignoring is a bit heavy I'd say. I am seriously offended, especially if there is a 'rest of us' who ignores me. If you (and whoever is there along with you) have a problem with me or my comments say it straight to my face. I am usually polite enough in my answers and I can take a lot, but ignoring is something I would not expect from an educated person... Especially since I do not have a clue why you do so. Please write down something more elaborate than smiley - run. I do not understand cryptic messages.

Did you miss the "smiley - winkeye" part of my comment?

I said I don't understand cryptic stuff tango. I am being *very* serious, my friend. Who were you eye-winkin'? The 'rest of us'? The 'newbie'? Do you understand what you have just done? You were inviting some newbie to ignore me, and said that there is also a rest of us who do so.

If that is so, the rest of you obviously don't need my services as a volunteer, as a peer or as a contibutor at all.

Feel free to be ignorant, my friends.

the smiley - winkeye smiley is used on this site to signify a joke. that's all my comment was: a joke. If you took it seriously and were offended then i apologise, it was not my intention to offend you. I value your contributions as both a peer and a volunteer.

Where is the RULE that explains how smiley - winkeye smileys should be used and understood? I take emoticons as they are: You were saying that with a smile on your face and winking one eye. Joking, I understood, but at my expense. This is particularly nasty, in my view, since the newbie you were posting to does not know about the h2g2 jargon (I, much BTW, too don't understand certain 'jokes'), and also nothing about my person.

Be more careful. I am *very* irritated.

I have seen in the other thread that you are apologising. I think that you should, however, explain properly what you meant with that sentence, so that there is no doubt.

I am NOT joking.

There is no written rule, of course there isn't, that's just stupid. (You may have noticed i've had enough of trying not to be offensive, you are just being childish) The most common use of the winking smiley is to show something is a joke, if you take it in another way then you are in the wrong, conventions must be taken as the most common viewpoint, nothing else will work. If you can't take a joke then I suggest you don't stay on this site, everyone jokes here, that is part of the fun of the site. If you are that easily irritated then I suggest you see a shrink, there is something seriously wrong.

I am now getting iritated, and that is something I don't remember ever happening on to me h2g2 before. Grow up!

That was a simulpost, so I will answer you next point. I have said in no uncertain terms that my comment was a JOKE it meant NOTHING.

It is good to know that you are now irritated too, now maybe the both of us can relax. smiley - tea?

Maybe I should see a shrink. Maybe you should think more before you write.

See you around, Tango.

I don't see any reason to change the way i write. You have simply been childish, and cannot take a joke. That is not my problem.

I'll see you around.

So I am being childish, ok. Maybe I overreacted, ok. Another smiley - tea? smiley - peacesign? I tend to take things seriously. But I do not offend deliberately, joking or not - like you did. I think there is always some truth in jokes. There must be a reason why you posted that comment in that way. And that was why I felt offended.

Now, please, chill out, Tango, let's be friends, ok?

smiley - peacedove

The reason for me making that joke was simply because i disagreed with what you had posted, you have written it off, when it didn't deserve that IMO. I didn't do it to deliberately offend as you say, and i thought i has made that clear.

Friends it is! smiley - smiley
