Hi Tango,

No, I was in the Army actually and as such we where subject to Royal Navy regulations. Thats the way the services work. Diving is run by the Roayal Navy, Parachuting by the Royal Air Force and Mounterneering by the Army.

I would be glad to hear of any gramatical errors you have spotted. The entry I pointed you to was the Edited version and should be correct. You can see the original version at A303891, along with the PR posts.

If you follow the link to Decompression Sickness and from there is a link to the British Sub-Aqua Club. That will give you all the information you need. But be warned, it is an expensive persuit. I didn't do much diving once I had left the Army because of the expense. In the services, things like this are subsedised.

If you come across an organistaion by the name of PADI, Professional Association of Diving Instructers, keep clear of them. They are a bunch of cowboys.smiley - smiley

Dalton - interesting name that. Do a search on Google for "Daltons Law" and you will learn more about diving than most people learn in a lifetime.

Best wishes

Stuart

Thanks for that! The errors i found were on the decompression sickness page not the edited one. I'll re-read it and let you know what i find later this evening. Dalton's Law? Isn't that by John Dalton about atoms and things? Or is there another one i don't know about?

Thanks.

It certainly is John Dalton. He had his fingers in many pies. He is particulary known for his theories on partial pressure, which is all to do with the way atoms behave, particularly gas atoms.

I was thinking of things like Dalton's 1st law: An atom is the smallest piece of matter possible. that sort of thing, but partial pressure sounds like his kind of thing too. i'll have to look into that. thanks.
