We must be related. I am the grand daughter of Anna Allison and Albert Borroff. Albert was the father of Marie and Edith, to whom I believe you referred in your posting. Albert was a famous singer, Anna Allison was excellent but lived at time time when you chose motherhood or career.

If you are part of this line, Albert came to the US via England and, prior to that, Russia. There is some speculation that his family was escaping the pograms in Russia. Albert's mother had died, so his father dropped him off at one orphanage and his brother off at another.

Music and creativity run deep in the family genes. I was a professional singer, as was my cousin. My mother and her twin sister were professional classical pianists and also played the string bass in orchestras. My son is at a voice lesson right now.
