I can't remember when I signed up, but it wasn't long after launch.
I arrived with the hordes when the h2g2 launch was featured on Slashdot (somewhere else where I have a suspiciously short (four-digit) user ID)
(Curiously, in a recent poll "Number of digits in your Slashdot ID?", 693 people, none of whom can vote twice, selected '2'. Err.. Right)
I see that several 'New This Week' users on here have ID's in the U12xxxxx range, which is making feel rather old... (I don't need that, Being 36 is enough to make you feel old enough, that and not recognising any artist in the top 100 any more)
Anyhow, I must stop rabbiting and see what else is going on around here.

*coughs*
You think 36 is *old*??
I became a grandma at 41...my grandson was 8 last week.
This is the first year that I've felt *old*.
50 just around the corner, *that's* old!

Thanks.
I was beginning to think, judging by the way many conversations seem to degenerate into meaningless, lower case, badly spelt (not just badly typed, which we can all be guildy of) and entirely punctuation-free incomprehensibility, that I was in a minority around here.
Anyhow, I did some digging, and I joined with the hordes on April 29th 1999. And there was a lot of digging too. This link will only work for a few days (As I'll be another month older soon)

Anyway, it's nearly 11pm, I am away for a few days, so I have some preparation to do for Tuesday's game against Chelsea (No, I'm not a footballer, I just work at Fratton Park occasionally, check my journal) so I'm going to shut up now.
Remember, if you are from the planet Kappulon Gamma, where they have six arms with four fingers each, and therefore count in base 24 instead of base 10, you are only 21.
Regards,
Jim

I knew you joined on April 29th 1999.
I got the information from here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/MA30753?type=2
You might have joined before me, but I'm here a lot more than you
Do you like the smileys?
I should have asked - as I do "smiley-speak" - can't help it, I
the h2g2 smileys
I'll try to control myself.
"Meaningless conversations, lower case, badly spelt" not me, no siree.
It's almost 11pm here too, strangely enough, although considering I'm in the same country as your good self, that's not surprising.
??
Not my thing, I'm half-watching Sky One while posting this, as they've got a special "Top Ten aliens" show on.
Nice to see Zaphod Beeblebox making an appearance at number nine.
OK, I gotta go too, speak to you next time you're online!
Have a nice Yuletide season.

Hmm. I didn't know about the /MAnnnnn?type=2 link.
Are there any other wierd tricks you can play by sticking different letters infront of a user ID? (I'm aware of the TESTxxxxx) for getting article GuideML sources.
Anyhow, at 23:10, I really, really must got going.
Jim
