You'll not have seen this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/F77636?thread=7860946 It seems to have been greeted with far more optimism than the layout changes to the other MBs :-)

Hard to tell whether the new hootoo is an upgrade or, like the MBs, migration to a new system.

According to Imminent Changes 237, the working environment may be a bit fractious - stylistas, after all, are only really concerned with appearances rather than functionality. It's incredible that a process, that was botched at launch, has not been developed to a working standard in the interim; and has now been rolled out as well.

I wonder what's going to happen to the R3 MBs? Deafening silence about imminent developments, and they don't seem to be heavily trafficked either. I've never spotted the presence of a host there, on one of my occasional visits.

R+E had to change at about the same time as POV because, as I discovered recently, one person has the responsibility of hosting both MBs.

One rollout that did make me wince was that the new layout for the History Hub MBs was launched without any preceding notice at all. Still, I guess that's historians for you ... never looking to the future smiley - winkeye

Yes it is astonishing to me that there is such a lack of basic functions on MB's run by the mighty BBC. I know you don't like the format over at RHP but you can do bold and italics without the need for any customising scripts.

Even with the Script, all that happens is that the display shows text underlined, italicised or in bold (rather than _blah_, /blah/, *blah*, ie how they're typed). At Peet's you have most, if not all, of the text formatting facility offered by a basic word processing program, but I struggle with the navigation there.

RHP is probably fine except that, as a lurker, I scuttle in by a side door and never find out how users view it smiley - winkeye

Yonks ago and elsethread, you commented that you rated Keith Jarrett's Prism.

For quite some time, I sailed along elatedly to this but never got round to buying the album:

Tonight, I've found this and although it has the same title, it doesn't seem to be the same tune at all:

Is it another track (of the three!) on the Changes album, or wossgoingon?

Ah...I meant the second one, which as you can see is an album track off 'Changes'.

'My Song' which comes up next on the youtube feed is also a lovely tune.

Ah. Ha. So once again I'm wrong albeit through no fault of my own, and because I didn't realise ... couldn't apologise for my mistake.

Bums. Very sorry. Again. smiley - sigh

The real Prism is indeed lovely, as is My Song and I was not familiar with either of them (added to my Amazon basket (which is, sadly, now up to 251 items and not much hope of getting m/any of them ... iirc Changes may already be there but waaaay down the list by now).

As for the tune which I so enjoyed, NotPrism: do you know what it's called?

Went to get that new support collar yesterday. The shop only had two. One was too small, the other too wide. They suggested I buy one on the internet, doh.

No apology necessary, I should have specified. I'm afraid your guess is as good as mine on the title of the other track. smiley - smiley

Sorry to hear about the collar.

Yet another instance, I'm afraid, of my using the information at my disposal and getting it wrong.

If the 'other' tune is unfamiliar to you, I suppose that suggests that either it's not on the Changes album and/or it's a live impro. Not in a million years could I imagine that the Changes' Prism could easily flow in that direction but the last tune on that dvd is a version of God Bless The Child, and it might conceivably have the right sort of rhythm and tempo to match my mistake for a prism. Also, it's the last track (or the last track of one of the dvds, in the two dvd version of the Tokyo concert) - which suggests it might be at the end of a set, and in the just the right place for an extended free improvisation:

There was me, hoping you'd have some comment about its suitability for a free impro at the end of a set (to me it's deffo got the right feel to take it to the wrongPrism).

I'm sure the funeral will be fine, as long as I slip in last and leave first, unnoticed. He was one of the few people who seemed genuinely pleased to see someone whom he hadn't seen for a while - his smile gave me quite a lift, at a time when someone being nice to me was (or seemed) rare. Just thinking about it brings a lump to my throat, and more. Again.

You've lost weight? I know where it's gone smiley - winkeye

St John's Ambulance, with whom he'd been active, formed a guard of honour - which was nice. They'd have been married for 60 years next May; can't imagine that anyone could have coped with proximity to me for that long, without one or both of us having lost their life or their sanity, maybe both. HerrS was mentioned once, then it was Mum and MyDad throughout. I can understand why this happened, but also why HerrS feels so pushed out of the nest.

It has been precipitating a gale here, and I used the Park & Ride service to go into town. Took me nearly 20 minutes to find the right Ride back to the right Park - that's because it has a circular route. So I drove home soaked, miserable and sad. And absolutely frozen.
