My first ever podcast, “A series of spectacular events” has been posted on the 365 Days of Astronomy blog today. It recounts a number of memorable experiences that I had while looking upwards at the skies over the past few years: a meteor storm, an aurora and a space shuttle launch. Hopefully it will convey the power of astronomy to recreate that sense of wonder that we had in abundance as children.

I’d love to hear your feedback on this. It was a lot of fun to put together and I have a few other ideas in the pipe-works that I would love to turn into finished podcasts some time in the future.

I finally had a listen to your podcast. Two months late is better than never. Great stuff smiley - ok Your enthusiasm and pleasure brings back all the joy and wonder I've found from witnessing celestial occasions - comets, meteors, eclipses, the ISS, even just the Milky Way spreading across the Atlantic one clear dark night in Roundstone.
Roll on clear skies - the Peak District is much the same as Western Ireland for the lack of them.

Dear Woodpigeon,

I went to you marvellous entry, but sadly am having a great deal of trouble with my eyes and can hardly read anything. I shall try again tomorrow morning, perhaps after a night of sleeping my eyes will operate better.

anyway, congratulations and well done. I look forward to either finding out how to print it in big type, or being able to read. Actually I shall not be able to do it romorrow. I shall have to do it on Monday.

All good wishes,

Christiane

Thank you so much MC! It was a lot of fun making it - for me it was stepping in to very new territory. I received some great feedback, which was very encouraging. I was hoping to do another podcast later this year, but things are a bit delayed at the moment.

Dear woodpigeon,

I shall read you article tomorrow when both my eyes and my brain have had a rest. !!

Thank you for that wonderful link. I came across some marvellous things, particularly relating to blood pressure. It sounds sort of somewhat serious when they say that damage is "irreversible." !

I wish I had not had that meiringue for lunch. !!

Go well,

Christiane

Dear Woodpigeonm

It is totally spectacular, incredible, formidable!!

If only I could have heard. I searched for somewhere where I could turn up the sound. But oh my friend, is that what you see at night in the sky.? It is quite indescribably beautiful and so synchronised it is as if there are new images forming all the time.

thank you so much. Ahd thank you for that link. I shall look at it every time I am feeling low - and I hope that what sight I have will be able to benefit. !!

A thousand thanks.

Hello Christiane,

Many thanks for your lovely comments. I hope to be able to try again soon - if I can ever get myself over to Germany to visit a very interesting place there.

Your comments are very inspiring and touching.

Best regards,

Wp
