I have seen your message and just wanted to say a personal Thank You, I have read your poem to "Dad".. and yes, you do fully understand how I am feeling.
We both know things will get better with time and the love of our family.
Many Thanks,
lil xx

You are very welcome lil. My dad was sick for such a long time, that in the end there was a sense of relief about it all. He went through far too much in the later years of his life. It was a sort of withering that was painful to watch - we had no idea of what he was going through. I feel for you and VV because you are feeling a lot of grief right now. Drop over to my PS anytime if you ever want to say hello.

If neither of you mind.i would ike to add you to my list as well.
I read your poem about your dad woodpigeon,it was lovely.
I understand what you mean when you say it was a relief,my mum had dementia, and was in a residential home for six years ,but was always smiling, even thouggh she didn't recall who we were, just that she knew us.She fell, and it was the general opinion that she had broken her hip,but after a day of x-rays she had bruised it,and went home. She fell again a short time after, and did break her hip that time. She had a hip operation, and after wards went home again. The third fall came after she had been home a week or so,and did the real damage. She was ready to be discharged,to a nursing home, although she would never have walked again, but she got pneumonia,we lost her in november.
It's a hard time for alof us,but nice to know there is someone going through the same things.
I am for your loss too woodpigeon.

Thank you both . You are both very welcome to be on my friends list.
Sometimes it is very tough - I'm not sure what is the most difficult thing to deal with: a long drawn out demise, or a sudden one. I think a sudden bereavement must be like a train crash - so much unsaid that people feel should have been - such a void left behind. My mother has been most affected by my dad's death despite everything they went through, so I guess there is no easy way.
Either way it happens, it all really makes you appreciate your life and the lives of those around you.

I understand what you mean by <>.On the other hand,it is so hard to see anyone suffer for such a long time.Ihave always said that i was glad mum didn't know what was happening to her.a physical illness would have been harder for her,she was a very independant person.
I hope that others might find this thread,it helps to talk, and share feelings, and brings comfort.
