Hello Katkodl!
Very nice of you to say so! She has a personality to match - she's a very good, placid, pedigree blue burmese cat. We call her Liath as it means "grey" in the Irish Language. It's pronounced "lee-ah". I'll try to get some more photo's taken when I get a chance.

Liath – it’s a beautiful name, I would have pronounced it the wrong way.
I love this kind of cats with those huge ears, slim faces and big eyes – no matter whether they’re pedigreed or not. I had a tomcat shaped like this many years ago. he was a “mongrel”, but in my eyes he was a beauty, though everybody else made jokes about his bony figure.
I’m sorry about what happened to Palin. I read about it in your journal. I’m very much into cats, and I’m still getting sad when thinking about all the cats that I’ve lost.
I’d be interested to know whether you “bought” Liath, and if so, how much she’d cost. has she ever had kittens?
oh, if I’m talking too much about cats just let me know. once having started talking about cats I just go on and on and on about it.

Yes - we used to have 2 brown burmese cats, and both died. After the first one died - we still don't really know how - we were given Liath as a replacement for free. She was intact, but we neutered her fairly quickly as we did not want her for breeding purposes. The cats each cost over €200, so they were not cheap. The local breeder has won a number of international competitions for Burmese and Asian cats. The cats in general are very intelligent, with a lovely, affectionate personality. They are very good with small kids too. In some ways they are more like dogs than cats!

this is interesting… I don’t know anything about pedigree cats, and so I wasn’t aware of the fact that all individuals of one breeding share more or less the same personality-qualities. but it makes pretty much sense, because it’s the same with dogs, isn’t it?
though it’s kind of funny because even the kittens of the same litter can have very different personalities. well, even identical human twins have different personalities… how does this add up? I suppose you’re an expert on that matter, considering that Ben and David are identical twins.
on a second thought probably this is what breeding is about… not only creating a certain kind of color, hair-length or shape of face, but also cultivating a particular kind of personality… it's kind of hard to believe that it works, but obviously it does. never spent a thought on that before...
sorry, I’m afraid I’m soliloquizing…
