Hi Insomniac!
Yes, I have been darned busy alright! After France I spent a week playing catch-up at work (it was the worst week for a long time ) and then I was sat on a plane on the Saturday, and whisked off to Chicago (one of the worst plane trips of my life ) and then stuck in a room all week trying to bring common sense to a project that we are taking on. Actually Chicago wasn't so bad, but I had a lot of work to do, and because of jet lag, I didn't really get up to too much in the evening and I missed not being at home quite a bit.
I'm not sure if I will be doing much more travelling in the near future, but the way my company works, I could be on a plane tomorrow!
My page is getting a bit old now, but I just haven't had the time to spruce it up a bit.
Hope all is well with you! Any trips to Connemara planned ?

Hiya
cor i dont know we'll have to start calling you speedy soon, your around all over the place! lol
sounds like work has a lot of pro's AND cons! do you get to go anywhere else other than the States?
well when i saw you online earlier i took a look at your page, there is a hell of a lot going on! where do you find the time to fit everything in?????
my mum wants me to go over in sept. but im skint and theres (have to put this delicately) a lot of family 'stuff' going on over there right now, so i dont know whats best, whether i should make the effort and go or stay the hell away! lol

Getting the hell away is always an option !
I have done a lot of travelling with work over the past few years, including Saudi Arabia and Australia, but mainly I go to Europe (Netherlands, Germany, France etc) a few times and I have been in the US a good few times. I have been in the UK loads and loads of times with work - mainly London. My current job actually involves much less travel than previous jobs!
I love travelling for holidays, although with small kids it has been really curbed. I have been to Egypt, Thailand, and Mauritius. I have also been to a good few places in Europe on vacation. Nowadays we try to get to France each year, but thats about it. My kids are too small (and we don't have the money) to go on exotic vacations.
There does appear to be a lot going on, doesn't there! I am meant to be doing a masters and I have done nothing. It's ground to a halt in reality. I also have some big family things going on too. I think I am going to get really, really, really busy in a few months time but its still too soon to tell. More news soon, hopefully!

Hiya
normally id love to get the hell away but things are erm (hmmm searches for an appropriate word).............really cant think of 1 thats apt! not sure if they need visitors just now, or if it would help matters perhaps a bit of time to themselves might be a lot more helpful gonna think long and hard before i make any travel plans in that direction or at least leave it for a bit till we know how things are
i love travelling myself but as you say, exotic loactions go out the window with children and money plays a big part in it too (or lack of it)! lol
more news soon? all good i trust? well hopefully!

Hi there IV! All going well with you? All is quite well over here, although the weather could definitely be better. No real news - I am all newsed out since the big news a few weeks ago . I have been quickly getting used to the big change on the way (both my wife and I come from relatively small families, so there are no precedents whatsoever!)
See you later!

Yes - I have two kids, and since they don't sleep well during the type of weather we are having now, I am currently getting good practice for 2004, when *everything* changes! My kids are really good for sleeping - so TOUCH WOOD!
I like the weather at the moment - it's incredible weather for Ireland! I'm indoors all day, so I'm only getting small snippets of the sun in the evening.

Not coming to Ireland? Ah, better take the teapot off so!
Weather is great here - hasn't gone over 30 degrees yet, so we are able to bear it. Irish people are the worst climate adapted people in the world. If it isn't an overcast day with the small probability of a shower every now and again we are lost. We hate the rain, the country closes down if it gets too cold. We all get a bad dose of sunburn if it gets too hot. I dunno - we're strange folk.

Hiya
peer review eh? hmm thats somewhere on here ive never been, what sort of things do people write about then? how do you get into that then, and where might they be on h2g2? (its a big place)
i have a friend who's a very good writer, he rarely comes on here cos he finds it too hard to figure but hes a great writer, he could do with an audience and some feedback, it would be good practice for him as i dont think he has enough confidence in himself
i think i will have to go and check out these peer reviews and take a look for myself
take care

Getting to Peer Review is easy - see that big fish on the bicycle on the top of the screen? Give it a click!
Peer Review is a core part of the guide - the late Douglas Adams, who was involved in setting up the site, wanted to create an Earth Edition of his famous "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy", where researchers would write articles on things in life and the universe that interested them. If they are good enough, they are then published for all to read. People write the articles, then they submit their entries to Peer Review, where lots of different people critique them and add their points and comments. When the article is in a state that everybody thinks is adequate it is then recommended and made part of the "official" guide, or "edited guide". The article is catalogued, put on the front page for a day, and given lots of tags so that search engines like Google can find them easily. The only real stipulation, apart from being well written and your own material, is that the article must be factual and based on general objects. Every day, the front page of H2G2 presents 5 of the newest edited guide entries.
I will be submitting my entry in the next few days hopefully.
