h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I've looked at the Edited Entry on Prague and I don't think much of it, so I propose to do a major update of it. Since you're one of the authors of the original, I'm just letting you know, and seeing whether you have any major objections. I'll try and keep as much as possible of what it there, but I'll put in a lot more stuff. If you can help me, that would be great!

Hi Gnomon, I just took a look at the original entry, and I could not agree more. Imagine that, the entry is about Prague, but the first paragraph is all about Kutna Hora, which is about 40 miles away from the place.

I think that the original edited entry was a bit of a hotch-potch collaborative entry , so you are free to do what you like to it IMHO. It has been almost 10 years since I was there last, so my knowledge of it is perhaps somewhat stale. (Think of Dublin in 1993, and you get the idea!) If I can add anything to the draft piece, I will.

How will you do the update? Is the proposed system up and running now, or are you going to use the Update HQ?

They keep changing their minds about what system to use for updating, but basically I ask permission from the original authors, make the new version incorporating the old then put it up for review. The detail that is not completely decided is where it is to go up for review. I'll check with Anna when the time comes.

Woodpigeon, the editors made a bit of a mess of updating the Prague entry. First they published the new entry as a separate Edited Entry on the front page, leaving the original one you wrote intact. Then they copied the new one over the old one, which is what they should have done in the first place. The upshot is:


- the Edited Entry on Prague is now the one with the original number A190018. It has all the original stuff and all the new stuff as well.

- there is another copy of this at A1051778 which is an exact copy of the Edited Entry, but it belongs to you, with me and some others listed as contributors. You're welcome to do anything you like with that, including deleting it.

- I still have the original of the one I worked on, which will also be listed on your page because you are a contributor: A1029197

Would it be better if I deleted A1051778, as it appears to be an Edited Guide entry, and this might cause some confusion?
