GRUMP!
Posted Aug 27, 2007
Once upon a time I wrote some journal entries here.
Now they are all gone. What is it about my blogs? Even Blogger has done something similar to me!

My First Windows Program
Posted Jul 14, 2007
OK, it's a bit of a cheat really. It's written in a dialect of BASIC so all the hard stuff like widgets (buttons, mouse capture etc.) is neatly packaged up for me, but I think it's good enough for general release now.
So what does it do? well, it's called Anagrammer\, and ... it takes a short phrase from you the user, then shows you as you type, which letters are still available. It can be used either to solve, or create anagrams. It's available from me, free, in a self-installing archive, for Windows ME or higher, but Vista compatibility is unknown.
I wrote it because for years I have been a crossword enthusiast. Now I am even sadder; a crossword-solving programming enthusiast!
What more can the world possibly hold for me?

Old-Time Country Auction
Posted Jul 13, 2007
This happened yesterday. A fascinating assortment of odds and ends - strawberry crates, pieces of beds, power tools, and some original old pictures. Bids were surprisingly high. It started at 6pm and went on until nearly 9pm (although it felt longer).
Which is how I acquired a bandsaw. I didn't pay the $100 asking price, as it was offered at a fixed price and the sale was closing, so I got it for a song. A little maintenance and it will be ready for work.
We also acquired a rather good female nude. Oil on canvas, for only $12. The question now is where to hang it.

Rubber animals
Posted Jun 29, 2007
I think I may have started collecting.
It all began when we were clearing out the garage, and I found a small rubber frog, still blue in places. Then at daughter-in-law's house I stepped on a rubber Chasmosaurus.
Rather than throw them away (!) they are now residing in the family van, in case of future long boring trips with young children.
Well, our two are both eighteen, going on four. So I think my decision is justified.
