Artists Open House
Posted Apr 29, 1999
Yesterday, Wednesday 29th April 1999, was marked by BBC/TW launch of H2G2.
Plus we were hanging our exhibition of paintings and prints in our house.
The Brighton Festival starts on Friday. Today, Thursday, our art group
launch a book about the history of the Fiveways Artists Open Houses.
Dont panic...how appropriate (spelling?). Big party at Neds house!
Press TV other artists etc..
We got lotsa dosh from the lottery fund A4E scheme to print this book.
Putting an exhibition together is pretty tricky at the best of times.
Doing it in your own house is crazy. Friday preview night
sees the first of thousands of inquisitive visitors tramping through
the living room.
Anyway, check list before going back to bed, notices, visitors book, leaflets,
wine, glasses, nibbles, haircut, banners for front of house, flag saying OPEN,
catalogue, Oh yes, paintings, frames, prints, browsers, receipt book, visa forms,
order pad, pens, numbers, red dots (huh!), stuff in fridge to eat on the go,
warning to neighbours, etc.. Oh yes, spinner for cards, cards.
Just now I woke up, middle of the bloody night, and realised that I
would have to write a manual about this artists open house organisation
secretary-ship, which I resign from in a couple of months.
Dont panic.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
