Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket

Peter's family - Peter was this kid I knew in primary school - Peter's family owned a record player that played at 16 r.p.m and 78 r.p.m. as well as the standard (at that time) 33 1/3 and 45. We thought it was funny to play 'Catch a falling star' really really slowly and really really fast.

Once again, I have no idea where that came from... but I know what song I'm going to have stuck in my head for the next week.

~Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
~Never let it fade away
~Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
~Save it for a rainy day

~For love may come and tap you on the shoulder
~Some starless night
~And just in case you feel you want to hold her
~You'll have a pocketful of starlight.

~Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
~Never let it fade away
~Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
~Save it for a rainy day.

You know what I still listen to every Christmas? Even though the record has about a billion scratches and skips in it?

The Muppets Christmas with John Denver.

It's true. Every Christmas I hear the words

~It's in every one of us
~to be wise
~find your heart
~open up your eyes
~we can all love everything
~without ever knowing why
~it's in every one of us
~by and by

That was the record I think that set up my entire religious belief system. The idea that just because someone isn't Christian, doesn't make them wrong.

I learned about tolerance when I was 3 from John Denver and the Muppets. Unbelievable. And the thing is... it worked. smiley - smiley
