Los Angeles is like any other big city on the planet..got good stuff & bad, but there is the rest of Southern California--huge area,really--lots to see and do--if you can afford it!! You are out of luck if you are poor here

Oh well i'd be out of luck as well then,anyway being rich doesn't make you happy! Don't get me wrong it helps!

Kinda..I know a few people down in Skid Row that would like to not have to worry about buying food,paying rent for decent housing,buying clothes...I consider myself lucky!!! Haven't had to "sleep rough"as is said in the UK!!

Wouldn't you ever move or is it harder to find work in different places?

Unfortunately, California is an expensive place to live overall..but the U.S.overall,is too--if you want a "good" standard of living. Remember,we have outrageous medical & dental costs,outrageous fuel prices,housing is expensive--a university education can put you in debt for 5-10 years, it goes on & on...

Yeah i keep forgeting you do't have the NHS over there,which is a scary thought.Our universitys are expensive too,its unfortunate to see people who can't afford it,not be able to go.

We desperately need some form of national health plan...it would be so much more humane to not force people to decide to pay for treatment over food, rent,etc.

I agree,why doesn't anything get done though?
