Marv, I will probably break down and go for the new iPhone 3G when it comes out next month.

Got any pros and cons you'd like to share on your experience with the first generation iPhone?

No copy/paste. That is my biggest gripe that is not handled by the release of the new iPhone and the subsequent release of third party apps for the iPhone.

I am tentatively planning on getting a 3G iPhone on the day of it's release if I don't have to pay extra because I already have one.

I've been doing a lot of research on the phone. It looks like you original iPhone owners will be able to purchase the new phone at the upgrade price even though your contract is not yet 2 years old. The 8Mb is $199 and the 16Mb is $299.

The assisted GPS has me interested since I don't have one yet. Not that I go that far afield, but hopefully I will be doing some serious job searching later in the year. It should come in handy for that.

I've had GPS in the past and it is invaluable in finding your way around unfamiliar cities. I especially am looking forward to both the #g/GPS capabilities and the better battery performance.

I forgot to mention that the down side for you will be that the data plan will now cost $30/month and does not include any text messaging.

Do you have 3G service in your area? I have it here and in most of NJ.

Yes, I already have a 3g Aircard for my laptop. With all of the stuff I have on my plan (3 phones and an aircard) $10 more won't matter.
