Hi Chris,
One of my first entries when I got into H2G2 was on scotch whisky...
its at

I'm now seriously regretting writting this one as I'm considering a University Project on the subject of whisky. It would have a seperate page for each distillery along with tasting notes for each version available and seperate sections for bottlers & blenders. I'd be covering whiskies from all over the world. Would the fact that this article already exists, and the fact that I'd be sure to repeat certain phrases/paragraphs that I've already used in the original article mean that I can't cover the subject in depth?
PS. I'm not signing up yet... There's 117 distilleries in Scotland alone... so there's no way I'm going to be able to do the whole thing in 6 weeks... I'll get underway and then go through the official application process once I'm sure I can meet the deadlines.

Hi Whisky,
Sure - I have no problem with that. Go for it.
Just one thing to bear in mind: presumably you're going to create a new introductory page containing 'general' information on whisky, that would more or less cover the same ground as your existing Edited Guide Entry. If this is the case, you can write a new one, and we'll put the GuideML straight back into that page, essentially updating it with your new, possibly expanded, material (with lots of links to your other pages in the project, of course).
You'll just have to remember to link to that entry number in all your other entries that make up your project. I think it was A602939.

thanks chris, I'll make a start, but don't hold your breath for it to be finished too quickly... This is going to be a monster of a project...
PS Just how much disk space have you got on your servers

"An infinite amount" I'm probably-not-very-reliably informed.
Can we assume you'll be testing each of these drams, and giving us an in-depth flavour assesment?

Hi again Chris,
I've made a small start on the project,
Could you do me a favour,
I've made a start on the first distillery page,
its at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A663392
Could you have a quick look at the GML and let me know if its OK for approved GML, I might have stretched the use of Tables a little too far for the official guidelines, but can't think of a better way to format it...
(The links aren't in place yet (and I haven't finished the rest of the information, but I just need to know if the formats fine before I clone this page for the other distilleries).
Thanks,
whisky

Wow!
Yes, that looks very comprehensive - as long as you can get all the links to work, it'll be amazing. Are you planning to make 150 pages like this one, then? That will be incredible!

Yup, although there's about 110 scottish distilleries, then the pages on Irish Whisky, American, Canadian, Japanese,(which I'm not planning on a seperate page for each distillery) so I reckon the whole project should be somewhere between 150 and 200 entries long...
(It's the only way I can think of of knocking Jimi X off first place in the number of edited entries written).
