Day one: Got up with a mega hangover... went to work... fixed printers,
installed software, sorted out dead pc's... went home... watched
Tomorrows World (while cooking)... and found out what www.h2g2 was
all about, woz wondering as had an email back in early March from
Ford Prefect with link to the site... guess it was a tantalising
taster. Finally connected and am here writing stuff, wondering who
on earth or anywhere else in the universe will actually read this,
but heh - wot the heck!
Had a very bizarre phone convo yesterday... we're installing at work
a new piece of software and I'm installing it on users pc's, it wouldn't
work on one user so I had to phone the support team... convo went:
Me: Well, you can see the title bar and menu bar but underneath you
can still seee the desktop
Support: how many centimetres?
me: oh about all the way down on the left hand side for 3 inches then
it goes white on the other side starting from about 4 inches...
later on in convo ...
me: oh on the desktop part there is a horizontal line with a vertical
line...
support: is it like a cross
me: no it's like a T
... after further measuring, I opened up a different application and
then went back to the dogdey one and I said:
me: it's all white now
support: so it's working then
me: no, IT'S ALL WHITE
support: oh, I thought you said it's ALL RIGHT now
me: do I sound like Michael Barrymore!
'nuff said - but it was funny at the time... well,I'm still laughing!
signing off... K@
