Yeah, i play guitar, admittedly only for 4 years, but then, i'm only 15, and that's a good chunk of my life
I'm also a bass player, and the world (or at least my part of it) seems to be severely lacking in bass players at the moment...
I'll definately take a look at the Worl Wide Jam, sounds very interesting! I'll check out Mehelium too....

Oh yeah, forgot to mention... i havn't posted much up about my band yet, but i'm bound too in the future. If ya want some info, you only need to ask

I was in a band called Atomic Wednesday when I was 14..... That was my first band - we didn't do much... I am now in my 12th year of playing guitar (self taught) and I will oneday get my shit together and get a new band together!!!

Tell me of your band....

First bands are always a good laugh, big ambitions, all play, no work......
I'm mostly self taught too.... i get lessons, but i just learn new songs, and get hints on technique. Basically, the majority of my playing was copied from a cross of Jimi hendrix, and Iron Maiden style soloing. A wierd mix.... Being mostly self tought, i've picked up loads of bad playing habits though... but at least i can say it's my way....
Anyway, my band, right, basically, we're just starting out (They were going for a while before i joined a few months ago, but we've recently acquired a new vocalist [female] and so, we've taken a new slant on it). We're called blue shift (don't ask why, i don't know, and i don't think anyone else does either... ). We write a lot of our own stuff, but do some covers as well, to keep the (mainly pub based) audience happy. We're not heavy, we've got variety, and can carry a decent tune, so we're just waiting for our break to hit stardom...............

Mehelium sounds very much the same until be broke up.....
I was 18 when that was all happening.... since then I have worked in a science and technology museum and for one of the best web design companies in Oz! Now I am unemployed and trying to get back into the music in a big way!!! Still doing lots of web stuff mostly here at H2G2 at the moment!

Web design sounds pretty interesting to me... I could tell you were good at that when i saw your page
I'd get back into music, if only amateur, coz theres nothing that can give you that kind of buzz as being onstage

I've written about 40 really good songs over the past 3 years and as soon as I find the right people......
I agree there is nothing like playing live to a good audience!!!

Mehelium got Interest from Mushroom records here in Australia... Bill Page the boss came and saw us twice! Jane who was the lead singer and the drummer, Dieter are now in a band called HoneyFix they have been signed to a local label and are getting national airplay on JJJ. They are doing well!

Wow! I've written a few good songs, all music only though, i'm no good at lyrics... The problem is, they all sound very sad and depressing, which is okay, i spose, but i'd like to write some some fast heavy ones.... My problem is, i'm only motivated to write when something bad happens to me, so it comes out all depressing, and full of emotion.
I'd like to get signed, but theres a lot of good competition for that sort of thing round here....

It's a curse isn't it... getting inspired when life turns to shit!
I guess that's why I've written a few good songs
