It's really good to see you back again! Long time no see! Where have you been? What have you been up to?

Hi Peta!!
Well.... I only really came back to say "i'm not coming back", but now It looks like I've been roped into staying.... *grin*.
Oh well, I'll give it a shot, I suppose .
Yeah, its been a long time! Well, there's been... err, one or two changes around here, I see.
Where have I been? Well... lots of places, but mostly nowhere
Erm... I've been sleeping a lot.... If that counts. Argh, I'll have to get used to all these new smileys....
Hi Madmunk
Peta Posted Apr 24, 2001
So as you've been away for ages, pre-new smileys, really? What do you like and dislike about what you see on h2g2 now?
Hi Madmunk
MadMunk?¿ Posted Apr 24, 2001
Oh yeah, I've literally been away ages..... the ACEs were still only new when i left
Likes and dislikes....... hmm, thats a tough question really. I love all the new smileys!
I was a bit freaked when I first saw the whole BBC thing..... It's still not exactly one of my favourite things, but I guess I can learn to live with it
I'll really have to have a good ole rummage around, to see what things I can become all opinionated about
Its a pity about not being able to embed pictures into user pages (sorry, "Personal Spaces" ) anymore... My user page looked so bare without all the animations...... *grin*.
Lots of new things to get used to, and lots of stuff I never will (Alabaster.... eurgh I'll stick with goo.)
I think, all in all though, h2g2 is moving forward!
I'm developing a habit of writing far more than I mean to......

Excellent that's great! I'm pleased you like the smileys. I'm hoping to be able to upload some community art in the not too distant future, so hopefully we can get a few of the pics back on here again.

Ooooh, that'll be a drain on server space, won't it?
Obviously there'll be huge restrictions though.... will it be a certain amount of pictures per person, or something?
You'll have to watch people don't just create new accounts, to upload more and more pics...... hang on, why am I thinking of all this? *keeps info to himself * hehehe
Hi Madmunk
Peta Posted Apr 26, 2001
Nah, it won't be done like that. I'm going to hire some community artists to do some art that everyone can use? So general things will be available, like logos for groups of Researchers. I may be able to offer the volunteers one picture each or something as a perk, but that'll be the second stage.

Ahhhhh, that sounds pretty good *Hopes for a Welsh flag*
How many different types of volunteers are there, these days? I've noticed a few different types around
Oooh, a donut, don't mind if a do...
Hi Madmunk
Peta Posted Apr 30, 2001
Have a look at this page, it details all the volunteer schemes.

New page, just written, that gives full details of what's going on. What do you think? I had you down for a Guru before you left, or maybe a new Gadget suggestion person.
Hi Madmunk
MadMunk?¿ Posted Apr 30, 2001
Oooh, a lot of info there. Thanks!
Hmmmm, guru sounds very tempting! I think I'd better get used to all the new things on h2g2 first, but I'll definately get back to you on that one!
New-gadget-suggestion-person? Didn't see that section there......
Does the name say it all? Hehehe
Hi Madmunk
Peta Posted May 1, 2001
New Gadget isn't a job per se. But it anyone can think of a cool Javatool or anything that would work for everyone they can send the code in, and we'll get Jim to make it an official feature. That sounds like your sort of thing, yes?
Hi Madmunk
MadMunk?¿ Posted May 1, 2001
*grin* yeah, that sounds like something fun I can do to while away my boreing sunday afternoons, I think! .
Now all I have to do is learn Java..............
Hi Madmunk
Peta Posted May 1, 2001
You're more of an html man then? I know you were good at that. How's your GuideML/XML coming along then?
Hi Madmunk
MadMunk?¿ Posted May 1, 2001
heheheh, well, I used to be good at html and stuff like that..... I think I'm a bit out of practise though! Shouldn't take me too long to get back up to speed....
Java is always something I wanted to do, but never got around to.... just like C++. Done a bit of Pascal at and VB, but not huge amounts .
Hehehe, I'm not struggling with GuideML /too/ much........ I still remember how picky it can be.....
