I think it's just another name. Scanning tunnelling / Scanning probe. I'm not entirely sure, though. The main different electron microscope is the transmission electron microscope. But by the laws of physics (as seen by 2 teachers, a postgrad teacher and 30 alevel students) it don't work.

From what it said on the web-page you linked to, I think you can have things other than a wire for your probe... all of 'em are Scanning Probe Microscopes, but not all of them are STMs.
