I just felt the need to tell you that I really liked what you've written about yourself. I'm not sure why, I just liked the feel of it. And I love the gameshow thing...first came across it in Probability theory class a couple of years ago, when the professor used it to teach us to "consider the facts", as he put it. Actually he screamed it at us: "Whatever you do, don't forget the _facts_! Always remember what you _know_!"
Anyway, nice to have met you in this manner. See you around.

*smile* Thanks, I appreciate it. I just tried to forget everything and look at myself objectively... to go for a really honest portrayal of who I am.
Something of a coincidence: I actually just made the first changes to my intro page in... well, in months... and *then* noticed your post at the bottom . I've finally managed to get out of my bad reading habits, y'see... thought that was worth mentioning.
The gameshow thing is great, I agree... *grin* it's an argument waiting to happen, and an argument where you know the (probable) eventual outcome is always fun... I've personally argued about that particular problem with the entire of my old highschool's advanced mathematics class, and with various people over the internet... most say they've been convinced just to shut me up, a few swear point blank that 'tain't true .
Reckon I'll pop along to your home page... see if it compares to mine at all *evil grin*.
By the way, if you'd like to meet me in person (sort of), you could log onto the MUG (Multi-User-Game, sort of text only RPG) that I play... visit www.cardea-rpg.com and click around until you find a button that says "connect", chances are I'll be there 18-20GMT weekdays and 10-10GMT weekends. (I go by the name of Dynamis).

Just 'ad a look at your homepage... hmmmm. Not much on the main page, lots of links, a couple of relevant forums attached...
*grin* You've got all the syptoms of being a Person of The Community... gives the place a very open feel, y'know? I like it.
I would probably have links from my page, 'cept I can never get the hang of HTML. I always have to refer back to the GuideML guide when I'm subbing articles.
Prob'ly just laziness, like the laziness which persuades me t' leave out letters all over t' place .
I like the bit about your name... there've been one or two discussions about my name in the forums off this page, but basically I'm called 26199 because I like the enigmatic and slightly anonymous feel to the thing. *shrug*

I'm aware that my homepage lacks originality at the moment ...and this is why I try to link a lot. I guess I hope that people won't mind the boring page as long as it can get them somewhere. I like the open feel as well. When someone asked about my name I considered putting an explanation on the homepage, but by then it was already in the forum, so there wasn't really any point in doing that.
After that I haven't been able to think of anything else that anyone might want to know about me, so I just left the page as it is, adding a link every now and then. If there's something anyone would want to know they'll just have to ask
I agree that your page has an honest feel to it. I also like the fact that you kept the number as your name - I think there's a researher called "XXXXX - I am a number and not a free man" as well. Making a point out of doing what noone would expect you to even want to do..

Yup.... and there was a little bit of sheer bloodymindedness in there too *evil grin*, deciding what to call myself, that is...
Hmmm, there appears to be a guinea pig occuping the box at the top of my screen. I'll hafta look into that.

I heard of that gameshow thing too. It's in a book on maths made fun (A brief history of time for maths, if you like). It's called 'Why do buses come in threes'
An explanation would be good, though. Perhaps an article? Do you want to write it, or me?

Hmmm. I've got a few projects to be working on at the moment (my piece on an Artificial Intelligence to play Minesweeper, loads of subediting, and lots of college stuff), so if you write it and I do the constructive criticism thing, that ought to work quite well...
Incidentally, if you'd like to do the same to my recent article on constructing an AI to play Minesweeper, I'd appreciate it .
I did, in fact, at one point, submit an article on this very subject - the three-things puzzle - but it wasn't very detailed and wasn't really written as an article, and was rejected. So you'll need to put the whole thing in some sort of context...
It's a shame we can't pick which article to sub-edit... otherwise, you could write it and I could sub it .
Hmmm.... d'you think you'll be able to explain it so that people are actually able to understand (and accept) the answer? I was never very good at that... heh... more fun if you're not *very* good at explaining, though.
Anyway... keep in touch, eh?
Hmmm, I seem to recall the article on Scanning Tunnelling Microscopes, which I'm editing at the moment, bore your name... I need to verify the facts, any tips as to where I should look?

Ask a physics teacher, I think. That's where I got the idea from. Or see if you can get in contact with the person who helped put me straight - Gert. Location's in the microscope forum. I've got to get around to writing the follow up - How to make yourself a particle accelerator. Same inspiration, but a bit more complex, since there are a few ways of doing it.

Sounds interesting
Incidentally, if you'd like to see what kind of a mess I'm making of your carefully-crafted article, you could hop along to '26199's test page' (via the search engine'll be easiest), where it is currently residing... if you don't like any of the (minor!) changes I've made, we can discuss 'em there.
