29 April 1999

Morning, as usual, there are over 30 employees at my firm, but only
14 parking spaces.... say no more...
I've recently got a company car, so there is an added initiative to
get to work early so that I don't have to walk a couple of miles
from the nearest free parking to get to work.
Prior to my company car, I got a lift from a guy at work
okay - he's my boyfriend - the initial lift thing was only a way
of getting to snog him).
Once at work, there is the usual, "God we hate work, we really do"
chat with "Jan", who sits opposite me, for an hour or so, then we get
another coffee and get down to it..... work that is. To fill you in,
I work for a Software house who supply software to banks and brokers
in and around London.
I've spent the last week going through every file maintenance screen
in the system and ensuring that there are help messages on every
field..... it was my choice initially as it was easy - but now I'm
finding it exceptionally mind numbing. I'm finding myself spending
more and more time in my boyfriend's office watching him talk to his
clients.
Somehow I get through the day, there's the 'sandwich lady' who turns
up at between 10 and 11am - that's always a joy as she supplies
cream cakes - superb. Then I go out to lunch at about half past one.
Being so close to town I always end up spending money - what a
nightmare. I'm a great believer in retail therapy and, although
I don't go mad, I do like to browse which drives my boyfriend nuts!!!
Today was paint and paint-brushes. I'm living in a rented house
and every (EVERY) room is magnolia. Have you any idea how depressing
that is? So I've gone for Soft Iris for the living room. All I've
got to do is get my bum in gear and paint it. Probably this weekend.
Anyway, I got through the day and tomorrow's Friday. Brilliant.
Only 7 days 'til I go on holiday - I can't wait.
