I went to the hospital with a friend of mine last night. Her eye was really gross and oozy and she had broken out all over her face. Now, I have allergies and had my eye try and melt out of it's socket before, so I was banking on it being allergy related, but the doctor walked in, took one look and said, "Nasty staphlococus infection. We're going to get you on an i.v. right now and you'll be lucky if you don't lose that eye."
It turns out that her new nosering got severely infected. She can't go to work for a week and she's contagious until Monday. We were at the hospital until 2am.
The horrible thing is, my eye itches, but I'm willing to bet it only itches because I know I've been around someone with a horrible staph infection. LOL! My eyes aren't red or hurting or weepy, but you should never give a hypochondriac access to horrific infections. We will "have them" instantly.
Poor thing. She's so unhappy.

I know. She also has a cellu-something infection that made the left side of her face break out and swell up. The poor sweetie looks like Quazimoto, and she's a very pretty girl. I've had some gross problems, but she really tops it.
Ant, the girl that caught it was Lisa, you remember Lisa and Leah's house? Lisa is the taller one. The poor thing. I'll pass your good wishes on. OH! And we have some killer pics from that Friday! I'll have to see if I can snag copies to scan.

Okay, I just got off the phone with Lisa and she just got back from the eye speciallist. HE says that it's not an infection from the nosering at all. HE says that it's a bacterial infection from an ingrown hair near her eye that swelled up. She's still on the Antibiotics and she got stronger eye drops. She has to go back tomorrow and she's not allowed to go to work and this diagnosis is just as serious as the other, but I think it's kind of funky.
The doctor at the emergency room last night was completely sure that it was staph... this one is convinced it's bacterial. Lisa's instinct is to trust the specialist, and I agree, but it's awfully angry lookin' and I think I would take out the nose ring on principle alone.
Hmmmmmmm.....

Okay. Originally I was going to say, I hope Lisa gets better, and that whatever it is hasn't contagified anyone.
Then, whilst waiting for this page to load, my mind wandered.
Did you know it takes only seven minutes to replace a lens with an artificial one?
My friends baby sister had really bad cataracts when she was four. I mean really bad... like she could barely see and no one ever knew. So Liz says to me, "Did you know it takes only seven minutes to replace a lens with an artificial one?"
And I says back, "Really? Why, is Lauren getting them replaced?"
And she says, "Yeah. She's going in tonight for one and in two weeks for the other one."
And I says, "Poor thing."
"Yeah. They wait two weeks in between so that if anything goes wrong with the first one, they can take care of it. If something goes wrong with both at the same time, it'd be bad."
"Ah. She gonna have to wear a patch?" says I.
"Yup," says she.
Then there is a pause.
"That, too, could be part of the reason they don't do them both at once," I suggests.
"Oh yeah, hadn't thought of that," she agrees.
Then we both fall on the floor laughing at the image of little Lauren walking around for two weeks with patches over both eyes.

I actually went deaf when I was small because my ears were so clogged. My mom clapped her hands really hard right behind my head and she said I didn't even blink.

Are the people at your work two?
Anywhoo, Lisa's eye is all better after a very narrow brush with blindness. We found out how narrow after she started to recover and the doctor told us how close he came to admitting her for surgery. Apparently, on the worst day, her cornea had become infected. I didn't know you could infect your cornea. However, she is feeling (and looking) MUCH better now. She doesn't even look like she has pink eye. No one else caught it, and so we're all gettin' better.
Just thought I'd let you know.
