Bluebottle saying "hi"

I just thought I'd say hi and chat to you a little - afterall, why not? I'm currently attempting to get to know more people on the guide, and after seeing you in the "English" forum, I thought that, as you seem so nice and friendly, you'd be a good person to get to know better smiley - smiley

Hooray! smiley - smiley New friends smiley - smiley

Well, I'm glad you stopped by to say hello. I'm doing alright today. Like the rest of the world, I'd rather be at home than at work, but what can you do? For my boyfriend's birthday I want to sew him pajamas and a robe and although I have all of the necessary stuff and I've sewn other stuff before I've never sewn clothes. The long and short is that I did NOT start the project last night like I was supposed to. I cleaned the house.

When I'm cleaning the house voluntarily you know that I'm putting something off. So I have to start it tonight.

LOL..it'll be fine once I actually get going..it's just beginning, you know? Anyhow, that and getting the cat to Belgium are the pressing issues for today.

How are you doing? Whatcha' thinkin' about?

smiley - smiley I always like meeting new people too. smiley - smiley

My sewing experience is pretty much limited to buttons, and occasionally bag straps when they break. I am not good at sewing and don't enjoy it, but it's one of those things that have to be done smiley - sadface
I don't usually do housework when there's something I have to do, instead, though, I normally write all those letters that I've put off for months.. smiley - winkeye

So, shall we tell each other about ourselves? Why not? I'm Bluebottle, real name Matt, and I'm a student at Southampton Uni. So, who are you and what do you do? If you don't mind me being nosey!

Nose away! smiley - smiley

My name actually is Krissy and I'm 24 years old. I graduated DePaul University in Chicago 3 years ago with an acting degree, but I have been doing things other than acting since I left school. I dance swing and lindy hop and taught for awhile. I work at a big company in Chicago as an executive assistant to pay the bills and about a year ago I met Andy Baker.

Andy is 24 and a jazz musician from London. He was playing with the Ray Gelto Giants (they recently played Southampton btw smiley - winkeye) and came through Chicago, I came out to dance, we looked at each other and the rest, as they say, is history.

My life is now completely taken up with trying to get into your country. They don't make it easy but I love London and I'm sure everything will work out.

What are you studying at Uni?

Hi Kirsty!
Well, okay, I admit it. I'm studying law. I'm sorry, I can't help it, I only did it 'cos I didn't have any better ideas at the time! I'm not a money-grabbing leach - honest! I'm really quite a nice person if you get to know me - but then, I would say that, wouldn't I? smiley - winkeye
As you were kind enough to say a bit miore about you than I did, I guess it's fair of me to say that I'm a 20 year old who lived on the Isle of Wight most of his life. (If you saw my page, you'd've seen a map of it smiley - smiley)
So, how soon are you likely to be living in London? Near future or a very distant ideal?

I'm moving to London in June, one way or the other.

Oh I'm SORRY!! You poor thing...studying law. smiley - winkeye My dad is a lawyer, my stepmom is lawyer, my older sister is a lawyer and uncles are lawyers, etc. I've served on mock trial juries and sat through countless leagal mumbo-jumbo. I understand what draws people to it, but I could never do it myself. Everyone thought I would, but I thumbed my nose at all of em. smiley - smiley I admire you.

Then again, I'm talking American law. It may be very different to study law in London. In fact, I know nothing about English law. smiley - smiley

Do you like studying it? How many years do you have to go?

(pppsttt...it's Krissy...no "t". smiley - winkeye Like Three's Company only not so blond or stupid. smiley - winkeye)

Firstly - sorry about calling you Kirsty! Okay, with names I am terrible - but at least I've got your sex right so far... (And I'm afraid I don't get the "Three's Company" reference - is it a film??)

As for UK law, it has quite a lot of differences from US law, and as far as I'm concerned, I only have to study it for a year more, then I get my degree and I can forget all about it forever! smiley - smiley Otherwise I'll be a great-grandfather by the time I qualify after all the training etc you have to do...
No-one in my family is in Law at all. My Dad was in metalwork, and my mum is a carer in a home for the mentally disabled. I'm the first one in my family to go to University, and I managed to get into Southampton! Okay, it's not one of the snobby Unis like Oxford or Cambridge (which I wouldn't want to go to, and didn't apply for) but it is recognised as a good uni in the UK.

Whether I'm a good student is another matter smiley - winkeye
