Dance Dance Revolution League (Allen Sect)

November 27th, 2005

Today I talked to the manager of Interaction about starting a DDR league in Allen and he seems interested. All we need to do is get a set of rules down and then start publicizing and BOOM! We've all ready got 21 people in the school DDR club interested in joining so we'll have plenty of members. I'm using this entry to draft a set of rules for the league.

************************************************************************

I. Divisions
there will be two divisions of competition: Standard and Heavy mode competitive divisions.

II. Tournament Judging
each tournament will be overseen by a judge/moderator who's job is to keep track of scores and decide tiebreakers. A moderator must be agreed upon by ALL contestants in BOTH divisions. (A contestant CANNOT be a judge/moderator)

III. Tournament Style (round one)
Tournament gameplay will consist of two rounds. In the first round, contestants will play individually in a round robin style competition. This means that each contestant will play one song of their choice and their SCORE ESSENTIALS will be recorded. Once all the contestants have played their songs, the top four contestants will move on to round two. If any two people tie for a spot in round two, they must perform a song chosen by the judge/moderator until the tie is broken. If for any reason the moderator is unable to choose a song for the contestants; one will be agreed upon by the highest ranking contestant entering round two and the two tied contestants. If those three contestants cannot come to an agreement, the second highest ranking contestant entering round two will choose the song for them.
A.) Score Essentials
score essentials are a list of statistics used to determine a contestant's ranking in any competition. The five types of score essentials are: letter grade, digits, combo, number of undesireables, and number of perfects. If any two contestants have score essentials that match, there is a ranking system to determine a winner. This system is listed below.
i.) Letter grade
Letter grade is the FIRST factor that decides any contestants' rank. The rank of various letter grades is listed here from highest to lowest: AAA-AA-A-B-C-D-E

ii.) Digits
Digits are the SECOND factor that decides any contestants' rank. A contestants "digits" are the first four numbers in their given score (not including the very first place value on the left side of the number.) An example of a contestants digits would be the number pattern "6352" or "0997". If there is a non-zero number holding the farthest left place value, then an example of that contestants digit would be "10348"
iii.) Combo
Combo is the THIRD factor that decides any contestants' rank. A contestants combo is listed beneath their letter grade and may be a number like 46 or 251. A higher combo outranks a lower combo.

iv.) Number of Undesireables
Number of Undesireables is the FOURTH factor that decides any contestants' rank. Undesireables are various types of missteps or "combo breakers" listed in a contestants statistic column. (The statistic column is the place where a contestants marvellous, perfects, greats, goods, almosts, boos, and misses are listed.) Goods, Almosts, Boos, and Misses are ALL considered undesireables. The contestant with fewer undesireables ranks higher.

v.) Number of Perfects
Number of Perfects is the FIFTH factor that decides any contestants' rank. A contestants number of perfects is listed in their statistic column. The contestant with more perfects ranks higher.

IV. Tournament Style (round two)
In round two, the four finalists compete in a double elimination bracket until a winner is decided. Ties are broken in the same way they were in the first round. The same ranking system of deciding factors is also used.

V. Prizes
Prizes are to be decided by a tournament judge/moderator. Prizes are to be awarded to the top three heavy mode contestants and the top two standard mode contestants.

maybe more added later.
bye
