Article dropped into a black hole?

Hi Anna

My Nailsea article (A904295) has been with a sub for 5 weeks and shows no sign of being worked on. In fact the sub in question seems to have gone for a substantial walk round the building.

To be fair, the article is not one of the most interesting pieces I have written, so I can understand them putting it at the bottom of the to do pile. However, it would be nice to bring it to some sort of conclusion.

Can you help?

Of course. I'll go and nudge, and then if that doesn't work. We'll get going on it inhouse smiley - smiley

Another 10 weeks have passed... that makes nearly four months with the sub-editor in total and I can't see even a comma that has been changed... The Inca entry is also in the same boat, and I believe a lot of work went into that one...

Hi sprout,

Just taking a look at the entry right now and wondered if you could help me with some clarification.

In this sentence 'You can still see Nailsea glass windows in the town, as well as winding houses from the coal pits, (one is in the park next to the Scotch Horn leisure centre) but no glass making cones.'

What are 'winding houses' and what are 'glass making cones'?

And if you want to have a look over it that would be good too smiley - ok

Thanks Anna

Glass making cones are I believe the cones in which they fired the furnaces to make the glass.

Winding houses are the towers above the pit that would contain the equipment necessary to lift men and coal out of the mine.

Other than that:

The last sentence of the introductory para 'would Nigel recognise...' I now think is a bit pointless. Cut it if you agree. smiley - smiley

In the second para under Nailsea now, the last sentence doesn't quite work. How about ending the sentence at'surround it' and then new sentence 'It seems to be losing its country soul.'

In the third para of what is there to do, there is a reference to skittles. Could we link to A907472 please, as it's now edited? The Nailsea article inspired me to write the skittles article, in fact.

Third para under other good points - could you change 'Roman child martyrs' to 'Roman martyrs' I've since found out that Quiricus was a child martyr but Julietta was his mother...

Next para - the bit about the jump - maybe change 'go down' to 'jump down' - they don't roll down the steps, they jump off them!

Thanks
