hiya,

wanted to say thanks for reading my attempt at a guide entry. I'm struggling through muddy waters with it now, but have come across GG's medal card and more photographs and I think one of my uncles has his service record and I'm sure more stories of how he was.
It appears he was also active in WW2 as well.
I'm giving that research a break for the day as I started to get a sore head.
It's not as easy as I thought it'd be, lol.
Hope you've had a good day.smiley - smiley

Thanks

Just take your time and enjoy the experience, a very nice experience, of finding out about your relative. There is no rush to finish article and you don't want to over burden yourself as won't enjoy the experience. There are those on here with a lot of experience of writing edited guide entries if you need help. Sadly I have no knowledge of such things as Edited Guide so can't help.
.
The best thing of all about doing the guide entry is learning about your family, and perhaps chatting more to them to discover things, and maybe presserve items for future, so it is a win-win situation all round!

Thanks

I'm thoroughly enjoying finding more out, which seems to be happening every day now. smiley - biggrin

I did similar research to this at the beginning of the year about one of my great grandfathers on my mum's side, who was killed in WW1. Obviously that time, all I was able to find was the date he died, where in France he's buried, his address on enlistment and all that sort of stuff. It was great though, because that side of my family originated a lot further north in Scotland and at easter time I went up to where my gran had been born, whereas before I wouldn't have known where to go.

There are definite benefits to this sort of research. It's like colouring in a picture you have in your head of what your ancestors were like.smiley - smiley
