Hi
I posted in the other thread, but I think it's way off topic...
Can I guess that you manage and that you have a lot of stress? If you were my manager and you weren't behaving like mine does, I'd want to discuss it with you. If you were below me, I'd definitely want to know what the problem was and find a solution that suited everyone.
However, in my world at least, my "managers" (and get this: there are more managers than staff... says a lot, doesn't it?) don't manage, they don't manage the staff and they don't manage their jobs. But they have to be managers because they are company mean from head office. And because of that, the fact they have no management skills to speak of, I have no sympathy when they are stressed: beyond that they take it out on the people who are doing the job for them.
I hope you weren't feeling personally attacked or insulted by that. But i've recently been told I won't be promoted because of my age, gender and the fact that i have children. By my manager. Now if that's not bad management I don't know what is.

Actually I am not a manager and certainly not stressed by work.
.
However if a manager said to an employee that he didn't give a toss the employee was stressed as he was paid to do the job so tough I would think the manager was very poor indeed. It also goes the other way too as managers are not another race they are human too.

Oh I know they're human -but they literally don't care. Different nationality, where it's normal to climb up the greasy pole squishing those below you.
And that's the only reason I don't care if my manager is stressed. My team works very well until he shoves his oar in. Then it takes a few days to get them back to where they were. But I can do it - and as a result we work well. Which is what I care about.
Frankly speaking, though, most managers aren't worth their salt. I have a few that I love dearly as people, but to work "for" - forget it!
