Just another thought, how many people are dreadfuly alone while being coupled? I know quite a few marriages where the parties are so far apart its really a domestic/finacial contract. I find my avocations to be my best refuge against those times when I feel so absurd and taking up space. So good luck, and remember at least your towel is inviolate.

Indeed i think this may well be the case, the fear of being along again does make some people (and i know a few) stay in relationships that they probably shouldn't.
I'm sure i'll be fine (have been for a good while now) and as you say i'll always have my towel
