Is There Scope Here Or Not?

Oh dear,
Just flicking through your facinating site, and guess what, I came across one of those annoying pop ups. (usually.)
As result of my training and top marks in the university of practical experience and hard knocks, I am a sound believer in the fact that there is nothing for nothing. In fact the words, "Congratulations, you have won!" are as far as those type of phone calls ever get with me, just like mail junk from any direction at all.

This time it was to say that I was the millionth visitor to a Microsoft site. and I had won over a thousand pounds worth of travel vouchers and freeby access to Florida theme parks, together with a luxory cruise for two.

After the usual debate, that you can not win a competition that you have not entered, my wife got access to the promoters with about ten seconds to spare, and all was in order, I had won, but now we hit a snag, we needed to give a credit card number, and in that department I am a strict non believer, in a few words despite being pestered daily by our own bankers and other people's wanting to supply us with a gold card, we do not have one, and we duly lost the competition in the final.
Therefore there can not be a truely millionth visitor on their extremely expensive competition, can there? I wonder how they will solve that little problem, will it be the first one of the second millionth visitors, or will they have wait until they reach their second millennium. Problems, problems problems, I amd glad that it is not mine, couldn't care less really, but hightly amused and thought that you may be too.

Lucky to have survived their "competition". I hear that they are quite persuasive and a lot of people fall for their gimmicks.

I suppose that they have their own way of counting up to a million lol.smiley - biggrin

Why don't you zap the pop ups by installing some spyware software and setting your security a little higher?

Yes, the banks are almost as bad in pushing their gold cards on peoplesmiley - sadface

Thanks for the mail, and the advice John, I seem to be finally finding my way about this new (to me) technology, I have been using computers for quite a while, but only for writing, I was wondering if you had found my "City by Night"yet.
I have only had one crit on it, it was complimentary, but I would most certainly appreciate your view as a dweller of the same City with similar taste to myself. I have lived in Fallowfield for some time, and my last years of employment were in your area. I was Security Consultant to British Rail, at Freightliner. Trafford Park.

Cheers H. smiley - biggrin
