Hi Spike,
Just been reading your poems. Good stuff and keep it up. There's a definite 'real' sense to them.
Only thing to watch is everything posted here is copyright the BBC so if you if you are particularly proud of anyof them, don't post!
Hope you'se is ok and work isn't to cr*p at the moment!

Hummmm didnt realise that about the copyright stuff. Worth remembering thank you.
Not that I think I will ever get round to publishers etc...Work has been bloody stupid tonight but then it is full moon weekend.
Thanks for the encouragement. Muchly appreciated.

Aha! You can't fool me, I'm too stupid! Found 'em! I particually liked "Alone". Though I always have preferred poems about "real life", so I may be biased. I don't think I am being though.

Ah, the title of this thread is my fault since I started the thread. 'tis an allusion to Pam Ayres (sp?) appropos of nothing.
Hadn't seen Spike's poems before and had just read 'Domestic' 'Alone' and 'Keystrokes'.

Ta muchly, ex-witch.
Glad you liked them....Its strange but since I got on here a couple of weeks ago my mind seems to be thinking more about situations, events and general "stuff"., Sounds a bit bloody airy fiary... but well, I seem to be discovering my own thoughts and ideas after all these years!! Am I talking utter b******s? Probably....
I'll go away and crawl back into my shell for a bit!! never know, another poem may hit at any time!!
Cheers both of you for your comments.
Spike

Don't sound like utter thingummies to me.. sounds quite normal - altho, as you say, when you start putting word around it, it does sound a bit airy fairy. I got some of my most useful and *profound* ideas and life philosophies when I did a summer stint of potwalloping (do you have potwallopers over here? No? Washerupping, in that case) at one of the local restaurants. It was a job that didn't require much "thought", so I just set my hands on work mode and let the mind wander.... there's a lot to be said for menial jobs.......
I am making an appointment to kill son no.1; little beast not only left the PC on overnight, but he has twiddled about with the "appearance" bit of the computor and everything is about half the size it normally is.. including the appearance of this box and the size typing. And as I am blind as a bat - or should I say Visually challenged? - it's a real squint job to see replies and write them.
Kids! Don't you just love 'em? (especially on toast, with plenty of butter) I can't WAIT for the pair of them to leave home, so I can have my life back!

Just a thought Ictoan.... some of the stuff I've put on H2 is
"my" copyright - I had some of them published in Eire... so where does that leave me with copyrighting? Its not that I'm posessive, just interested!

Ah well, in that case it comes under the posting of copyright material which is OK if the copyright holder gives permission and the source is referenced along with the copyright.
Basically the copyright thingy is so that the BBC owns everything posted on this site, except where prior copyright exists. I think it is mainly aimed at the posts, like this one, and the guide entries, so that the BBC can take this post or an entry and, as they say, use it in any way they see fit.
Also means if someone comes along and rips off the guides content to create their own site then the BBC can sue their *rses for it which otherwise they would have a lot of trouble doing.
So if I posted an original work without exercising my right to copyright it then it would go to the BBC.
I'm sure theres a bit in the guidelines about all this.
At leaszt thatr is my understanding. If you really want to know I'd go ask the PTB and check where you stand.

That'd be really handy if you could do that - I hve a phobia against small print at the best of times Guidelines and stuff happen to other people, if you see what I mean! Out of interest, whats a PTB?
And whilst on the subject of initials, here is an ideal opportunity to ask... whats S.H.A.D.O.W. all about?
Thanks an immense amount in advance.

me too scared of small print, so don;t just take my word for it, I have no copyrighted material so have nothing to lose if I am wrong! But I shall see what I can find.
the PTB is the 'Powers That Be'. I.e. those in control, such as the H2G2 editors, or the BBC Governors, or politicians etc. Any generic group of faceless bureaucrats basically
S.H.A.D.O.W. is the Singularly Hidden Avoidant Denizens Of the Web. A group here in H2G2 set up by a small group of us researchers who were fed up (or perhaps not) with being ignored when we posted. People who found that when they posted to conversations the general wash of the thread just carried on oblivious of their presence. Extends to real life as well, people who always seem to be ignored at the bar in pubs. Or overlooked at deli counters, or can never attract the attention of a store assistant. People for whom being noticed is a bit of a chore. Find us here :- A811810 not the busiest area, but then we keep forgetting we exist
