Oh Peanut... Oh my... Oh my goodness me !
Isn't that just... er... well, special?
Tell him Thank You from Rod
. . . . . . . .
Life? ah well, Ms Stress is coming out of the dip so a couple of good weeks if we're lucky.
. . . .
The carving? Well, part two should be in on Monday and there's another few pics awaiting choosing one and words to go with it.
I'm winding-up for doing an occasional series (without a promise of actually finishing).
For of course but perhaps mainly 'cos the first one got me head moving again & it's doing me good.
What do you think?
Hey Rod
Peanut Posted Oct 10, 2013
Gosh Rod as it been 6 days, I have been knocked of course a bit
I have been thinking of you both and wishing for a good two weeks.
Also of the carving, well, I like very much the idea of the occasional series, even if there is no actual of promising of finishing.
What with you and Willem, I had a few other ideas as well, oh, could this be an idea for Create, you know one we give loads of advance notice of, documenting a creative process.
Could range from a wood carving, painting to baking a cake or making the perfect cheese toastie...
I thought I would maybe suggest it to Dmitri and MVP in a quiet moment
Goes without saying that your contributions to are much appreciated
It would make me additionally happy that when I see them I can also think that it is getting your head moving and doing you good.
So that is what I think.
I did pass on your thanks to Willem in timely fashion, even if I have been tardy about this post
So if you don't mind me enquiring how are things going?

Hello Peanut, thanks for your comments
Create? Documenting it?
Oh, Yes.
It could be ver-r-ry interesting indeed to see how others go about things... any things that have an element of creativity (even if the subject doesn't particularly think it Is creative...).
Yes indeed, Get involved - it's always seemed to me that it, , is the natural hub of things - yes, I know that the EG and UG contain the meat but you have to go looking whereas is just one more click away.

Ms Stress is 'fairly good' at the moment. Her last chemo treatment was a week late 'cos her blood test wasn't so good - but her body was telling her that she had actually had it so when it did come it was a downer-and-a-half, for longer than usual but she's now on the way up again ... for half a week.
It's a bugger, ain't it
Hey Rod
Peanut Posted Oct 11, 2013
yep it is, isn't it?
wishing you both good days
with perfectly mixed G+Ts and whatever else Ms Stress sees fit

I'm keeping up with the green man, he is coming along isn't he?
How's it for you? Still good contact?
Hey Rod
Rod Posted Nov 2, 2013
Hi Peanut,
Ms Stress had her last (of that course of treatment) on Friday. It was a couple of weeks late 'cos she had 2 units of blood to assimilate before they'd do it.
Now, we're waiting to see what all those further tests & checks say. She is not optimistic.
Green Man? Yes, he's still here. Not much done on him for a while so I'm filling-in with some previous stuff that may not be so suitable but DG's put the first one in...
He's very useful to me - keeps the head moving of course and is an escape - I can lose myself for a while... as long as I can get more than 5 mins...

Hi Rod
I hope you don't mind I have back tracked through your conversations with Elektra as I wasn't entirely clear what cancer Ms Stress was being treated for and what the prognosis is.
Stage 4 is as I understand it at a late stage, we are talking about management not cure and 3 years with luck.
Felt a wash of sadness and said a rude word, that is hard news Rod and Ms Stress. I am not sending sympathy because I am not a great believer in it, please know though that I am feeling for you, and certainly rooting for you both
Sounds like chemo has been a rough ride, not that it is ever easy. I hope the results are 'good' in that it is worthwhile in buying good times.
I'm glad that the Green Man is still there, keeping your head moving and offering some respite.
my very best wishes
Peanut

Thank you Peanut.
Yes, stage 4. When it was discovered, in fluid drained from a lung some months after a car accident, it seems that it is 'of the ovarian kind'. Her mother died of ovarian cancer ... but our daughter 'does not have that gene' so perhaps it stops here.
Yes, the last chemo treatment was last Friday. This time (so far) she hasn't been badly affected and remains cheerful and, to some extent capable, though needing lots of quiet rest.
What happens now? Dunno yet. She was offered an operation at one stage, refused and commented "No resuscitation... Life for life's sake is not enough". I blink each time I remember that.
Sympathy? Don't want sympathy, rather have a glass with a little something interesting in
Yea, The Green Man - preparing another piece for when the current three potboilers are finished...
Regards
Rod

Spiller and Grandad would envious of your workshop indeed
not so your situation as it is
how are you and Ms Stress doing? If it is private, usual qualifier, please don't feel obliged to answer,
something interesting to drink, cherry brandy, home grown cherries?
to be safe I'll leave a known favourite <---- gin plus tonic
Do you like sloe gin?
Best wishes

Hi Peanut,
Sorry for the delay, we've been away for a week, giving Ms Stress a break before ...
... She's finished the round of chemotherapy and has been pretty good for a few weeks - not far off her 'usual' self.
What happens now, though, we don't know. After this break in treatment (presumably to allow things to settle out) there's going to be another round of scans & tests & things, after which we may know a bit more.
Having said that, she's not optimistic and I'm doing my best to support her efforts to be normal (mainly by not snapping at here quite so much as usual). She continues, though, to impress me mightily by her stoicism.
Dammit
The workshop, yes. I put it together in the good times, after taking note of, at the height of my powers (?) a row of desks at the end of the room occupied by paperworking forerunners no longer capable of keeping up...
GanT - yes please. Later on in the evening, when possible, a decent single malt, please (or at least, as decent as pocket allows).
Sloe gin? Can't remember but don't think so!
Thanks for your interest
Rod

Hi Rod
Thanks for keeping in touch, here, and I saw the green man in the and I did notice a difference
Glad you and Ms Stress have had a good few weeks and week away.
And enjoying some normality, when you can. Stoic, ah, we all hope we are able pull that off when tested, Ms Stress has my admiration also
*pours G+Ts, that I am confident with*
a decent single malt on the other hand wouldn't know where to start
Have looked up sloes in NZ, apparently they are 'locally naturalised'
if that happens to be anywhere near you and you fancy giving it a whirl I have recommended recipes for sloe gin
