Hi Rod;
Noticed your tag line, if you would like help/experience with puppies, I've been a dog person for all my life. I've trained etc. for over 40 + years... And my new 17 month old GSD has been non-soiling in our shared house/turf since she was 3 months old.
Let me know the breed, age, and personality of the pup, I will offer advise/help if you would like. Sorry to be presumptuous, but....

hi anancygirl, Thanks for your post

We have had a dog previously, a lovable samoyed, from an almost new pup. Runt of the litter, she turned out bigger than most males.

This one isn't three months old yet. She's got the pees mostly worked out, but the poos - not yet, though she's showing signs!

She's a cross: Bichon Frise with miniature Poodle, from over the road, where mum was given in exchange for the pick of her first two litters (the original owners want all-black mixes - doesn't that set the imagination going for a minidog!).

Miz Stress had been insisting on a dog - and chose the most active, mischievous one. I didn't & don't want one - and am adamant that I Will Not walk it smiley - wah. < tiny writing-> > but she's irresistible really.

She sounds like a real cutie, remember "a tired puppy is a good puppy". I had a min. poodle when I was a kid. She turned out to be one of the best dogs ever, strange, I had really disliked poodles before we got her- all that fussy grooming for appearance. Good luck with her and (tiny print) sneak her out for walks when no-one is looking.

Do you practice remote training? If so, keep going...

This morning at 5am she asked Miz Stress to be out - and did a poo.
She probably didn't need to wee as I'd had her out at 3 (on my 1st waking time).

Hi Rod,
Sounds(reads) like your young spark tends more towards the poodle genes(very bright and high energy) think of a human two year old going on three. My monique(roo) is similar, she gets me up at, literally first light. She was crate trained until seven months, then given free run of the house. I was toying with the idea of breeding her to a tri-coloured collie cross(great temperament) so she is not at present spaded; however my daughter is now with child and puppies seem to out the question. Grand babies outweigh the need to increase the pack size.

Sorry, anancygirl, for not replying.

Yes, she's certainly high energy. Bright too, methinks - she had me worked out by the second session of dodging/catching round the furniture (big room) - she waited behind & in the middle of the sofa - and I've not got near her since.

She's showing signs of quietening down, after sessions
1. with a terrier who bullied her for a while then was perplexed & neutralized when she changed the game to her advantage
2. one of her sisters who wouldn't play
3. her mum, who shunned her & snapped

The damn' little bitch won't walk out for her last pee at night - she insists on me carrying her (complete with cuddle) to the lawn.
