I'm a weirdo somewhat displaced person living in Seville, Spain. Well, I actually feel like this is my true home in the entire world, it's the practical stuff that ends up making me feel a bit displaced. You know, trying to keep the rent paid and stuff like that. Otherwise I totally belong here.

Displaced? In Sevilla? I've never been there, but I lived in Madrid and the environs a couple times...once when a young teen (during the Franco era), and a couple years when I was in the Air Force. There are many good memories in this head...

I'm a Service Brat, born and raised overseas, and can truly say that I'm displaced here in Californy. The reason I'm staying on has more to do with economics (and inertia...I retired from the AF here) than anything else...CA has some good points, but I find the 'social imperatives' too strange to subscribe to.

I've been a nomad since childhood, so my roots don't grow very deep anywhere. Just have to accept that the Sun will rise, wherever I am. Once my sons leave home (I'm not rushing them, BTW) I'll likely be heading down the road. But where? It's a big world.

If there's a place on this planet that my soul could call Home, it would have to be Garmisch-Partenkirchen, in the Bavarian Alps south of Muenchen. If you've seen 'The Sound of Music', you've seen the topography.

Sure, I'll credit you with filling in the blanks. The only thing I know about Lyall Watson, frankly, is that delightful observation. Now it has a source. Thank you.

Re computers: It helps to think of them as life-forms. Trouble is, they evolve so damned fast, and they fall ill so easily. Oh well, 'job security'...

I think a nomadic life would have suited me when I was younger. Now, after moving from Canada-England-Spain, I feel like staying put for awhile, though I would love to travel more.

The Bavarian Alps sound lovely but cold.

I bought a new computer this spring after having used an old dinosaur for about three years, and it's heaven. Then I recently got broadband, so I have become quite addicted to being on-line. Perhaps more than is good for me?
