My cat is in the hospital. He has kidney problems. Like major kidney problems. He only weighs 9 pounds instead of his normal 12. They have him on round the clock IV fluids. I had kidney problems over the summer and it sucked. In me it manifested itself in really bad joint pain and nausea. If he is feeling that sick I don't know what I'm going to do. The vet said this morning that he seemed a lot more perky and was talking to her, which is a good sign. I feel so guilty. If I hadn't had been so self-absorbed I would have noticed the weight loss sooner. If I hadn't dumped them both at my friend's for the past month I might have noticed sooner. Well, I'm going to do whatever is reasonable for him. Meaning, I'm not going to spend thousands of dollars if he is just going to be mniserable. BUT, I AM willing to give him fluid injections that the vet was talking about and get him medicine and put him on a special diet and all that. I think that's reasonable. It was so weird in the apartment last night. I really was missing him. I'm not ready for this yet...

Oh, I'm so sorry. My oldest cat (Thisbe) had to spend a week in the animal hospital once when she was little. It was due to injury, not illness, but it was still incredibly awful.
