Hello Angela,
Welcome to my room
Yup, Clip told about you and you are now learning Japanese living in Tokyo.
Tokyo is multinational and big city. As a friend of mine lives there, I have been there. just a few times, though. I felt that I was a foreigner.
I live in a countryside of southern Osaka, though the centre of Osaka is also big city. as you may know Osaka is well know as the busiest city in the world
I was born in Sakai, Osaka where has been well know as a marchant city (in the past) and it was the only independent marchant city till Tokugawa period. I love my hometown (original small region, because Sakai has been too big as a city )
But I love my hometown as well as England. hahhahaha I miss England a lot. I'm forgetting English... that's why I registered here
If you read my introduction of my space, you'll see a bit of myself.
I'm now middle age... aarrggghhh getting older and older year by year, single, never get married I live a flat alone.
I studied English literature in Japan and got MA, though my English was very bad. lol
after finishing my MA, I went to England to learn practical English, I mean, spoken English at a language Centre of the University of Exeter only for 3 months then stayed extra 3 months then came back to Japan (in 1989 when I was 27 lol) then I got serious mental problem, then I couldn't get proper work, but I worked at a University in Sakai (Osaka) as a part-time job. I worked in 'the International Centre' of the University. So, I was used to look after some overseas students as well as Japanese students who wanted to go abroad to study, or some Japanese students who came back from our sister university as a exchanged sutduents. So, I can easily imagine how hard for you to learn/study Japanese or contact staff at the university if the staff can't understand you.
After quitting the part-time work, I couldn't work because of my mental problem, then my friend planned very small organisation (small 'JUKU') for small children, then she asked me if I could help her as a 'teacher (I hate this word, though)' for s As her aim is not to push them learning English. She wanted them to enjoy things with learning English. So, I decided to help her. And now I'm 'playing' with them in English. I'm so sorry for them as my English is bad. lol as you know, our country, at the mo, encourage children to learn practical English, but it's American English not 'ENGLISH' this makes me very confused. But my friend who speaks an American sounded English, whereas I try to speak English sounded English... my friend in the UK told me though I've got Japanese accent, mine sounds English that makes me so happy.
Because I've got some French friends, I'm learning French at Alliance francais d'OSAKA. (private lesson because I am very shy and I'm not keen on large class)
And as I have got Korean friends, I tried to learn it, too. So I can 'read' the Hangle letters, but I can't udnerstand most of words
As for Chinese, as you know, it's so difficult for me to learn alone. you've got Ping-ing... That makes me very And you've got a large numbers of accents/dialects that sound completely different. hahhahahahha confusing.
Nowadays, it's hard even to read Chinese characters (simplised ones you use, don't you?) whereas Taiwanese Chinese characters seems similar to ours as they use 'our' old style Chinese characters.
Clip told me that it's getting hard for you to learn Japanese. Is it true? Haven't you got any Japanese friends? or it's difficult for you to understand what your Japanese teachers/professors explain?
If you don't mind, will you tell me your major? And one question, too, if you don't mind I wonder if you're English Chinese... or if you're Chinese whose hometown is in China. cos your name is Western name. (I know Chinese people have got Western/English name, too)
Well if you feel free and you feel fine with this msg, shall we start our chat here?
Or if you really need help to learn Japanese, please tell me. As my Japanese is also bad I'm not sure if I can 'teach' you, but if you feel fine, then we may be able to chat with messanger, too
Don't worry too much
Do hope you can keep in touch with me.
Thank you for leaving your message
Take Care, Angela, and keep yourself being relaxed.
chat soon
Yours,
Taamyu

hi,Taamyu
I am very glad to see you here,^^I should say thanks to Clip and also internet, for they made the communication between us came ture....haha...
I am an absolute Chinses, and I have never been to Britain before, although I am looking forward to visiting it.... So I am jealous to you that you have been to England ,it should be a very before city ,right?but as i know ,in the past (i mean about in the period of 18,19th century)it is a bit of dirty ,I heard it from my teacher who is from England and also read it from some of Charles Dicken's novels. But anyway,it is a city I wonna to go....haha... maybe some time in the future..
I am now studying in a university now. Before ,I have studied in a Japanese language school for a year, and then I went to a university to learn nutrition, but just for half an year ,that i entered into the now university .I have been lived in Japan for half and one year. The first more than one year I have lived with my uncle and his family, his wife is Japanese.Just about two monthes ago,I moved to the place I am living now.My uncle's home is very close to Tokyo tower, the beautiful Tower,I like Tokyo Tower in the night .Now,the place I am living is also very countryside, there are two universities and one high school near it.As in my mind, most of Japanese universities are located in the countryside. But now ,I have been used to this place. It is green, quiet and has fresh air,and there is a very very large about 30minutes far away by walk...
You said your English is not so good,I do not think so^^It is good^^As we are not native English speakers,so you do not need to worry about too much...and donot be shy...It sounds interesting that you are learning French now. There are some French living in my guesthouse(I am living in a guesthouse),they are teaching French here...So ganbette ^^
My best friend in Japan is a South Korean,so I learned some, just some Korean words from her, haha,,,,we speak Japanese to each other...when we became to very familiar with each other, the language is no longer a matter, although our Japanese is poor...we have known each other quite well...
You are a such independent women in my mind
Wish to talk to you again
And have a nice day
GOOD NIGHT
Angela yo ri
(my english name in order to remember my hometown called Anji)
Hello,Glad to meet you
kbrtiata Posted May 14, 2007
Hiya Anji
Lovely to hear from you again. So you're 100 % Chinese aren't you? Are you from Beijing or Shanghai or...? cos you have so many dialect/accent that sounds completely different.
When I was university student (ages ago), because my friend adored Jackie Chen, I was used to go to watch his films. I didn't know that you've got many accent and I thought Cantonese sounded like Mandeline or Shang-hai Chinese, blah blah blah. some years later, some of my friends told me that Chiese had many dialect that you sometimes didn't understand each other And some weeks ago, I watched one Chinese film (it was not Hong-Kong film ) and I found that that Chinese sounded more quiet than Cantonese As I have got a few Korean friends I learnt Korean by myself and I can 'read' Korean letters (hangle) though I don't know the meaning I think you and I can learn each language, can't we?
I went to England ages ago and now I miss England as well as France wehre my French friends live so much.
Like any other countries in the 18th, 19th centruy, not only England but also other countries were not so clean compare with now, you know what I mean.
Some places were nice, others were bad/dirty. It depended where they live. or it depended on their classes, working class, mercant classes, aristocracy, blah blah blah.
I only vistied Tokyo Tower ONCE when I was teenager, so it must be changed a lot.
How long are you going to stay here to lean Japanese??? or do you want to live here? Hope you enjoy yourself in Japan. I heard that there are so many green to reflesh yourself even in Tokyo. Nature and fresh air make you comfortalbe.
you, Take Care and Enjoy yourself.
I'll help you whenever you need as much as I can (Japanese) so please tell me when you want to do Messenger with me
It's getting sticky and sticky here in Osaka I hate Japanese summer I love Autumn in Japan best That's the best season to live
Looking forward to hearing from you soon,
Taamyu,

I found Anji
http://www.kourochakan.com/pege/top/map_china.html
http://lohaslife.co.jp/hpgen/HPB/entries/18.html
As the pronunciation of Kanji 'Anji' isn't differnt from our Kanji, it takes a few seconds (longer) to find where Anji is.
I'm very glad to find where you come from. It seems very beautiful place.
My hometown, Sakai and other places wich is close to my place are so nice too

Hi Angela,
At last I've catched you up
I went to England ages ago, I'm afraid if it was before you were born . And I had to give up staying there longer than I expected, I miss England so much Then when I came back to Japan, I had a serious health problem (both mentally and physical because of so many stressful life came back to me here), I have had long rehabilitation since then.
As I get better now, I still have to go regular meeting with So, I can't work properly still now, but because of my friend help, I 'teach small children English (play with small children in English)' 3 days a week, 3 times a month. But I know I'm not good at teaching, as I hate teacher
As you know the kanji of Anji is different with English, so it was a bit hard for me to find where Anji is, but when I found where it is, I now see that it must be very famous for many tourists. It's close to Shanghai, so that it's so easy for tourists to visit Anji. Shanghai is one of very international big cities in China, isn't it My uncle once visited to China, I forget the city name but it's famous for 'medicine'. He enjoyed China though my granddad had a bad memory of China because he had to go to China as one of an army doctors during the WWII like all Japanese doctors had He had to see so many injured worriers and terrible scenes that we have never experienced.
Yup, it gets hotter and hotter day by day here in Osaka, too I hate Japanese sticky Japanese hot summer How's your city, Anji' is like? Is it cooler than Japan?
Hope your dream to visit Europe will come true in future You can do it if you don't give up I mean it
Well I'm very much looking forward to seeing and chatting you soon,
Regards,
Taeko

Hello,Taeko
How are you? I am glad to receive your message,,,Tokyo today is hot as always,,my hometown Anji is also getting hotter and hotter,,,the temperature is almost the same as Tokyo I think, but the summer is not as sultry as Tokyo...
I am sorry to hear that you had suffered severe physical problems...I hope you you will get better and better...
Japan and China is very close to each other, and now,as the development of economy of both countries,,,there are more and more Japanses go to China on a trip or business, and more and more Chinese students come to Japan for its high-level education ...
Thank you for your wish for my dream,,,haha,,,I donot know what I will do after graduation,,,because it is the thing of 3 years later and there are too many things we cannot image...um!!!just wait it....
And with regards

How are you recently??I lived as usual^^.school,part-time job,home...sleeping.eatting.reading.watching...haha...sometimes thought myself such a tedious girl...I went to harajyuku with a south korean friend yesterdy,it was my second time there, the first time was in a evening ,so I got really no impression about it.This time we walked around and ate omurice ,,but my favourite city in Tokyo is shinjyuku ...because I familiar it most ...another Japanese lady I met on internet had suggested me to visit Nara and Kyouto,,for they have a long history and famous as historic tourist destination...I shall one day have a trip there...Have you been there before? As a Japanese, you shall have been there right? But as a Chinaese,I have never been to the capital Beijing...because It is really very very far from my hometown,,even farther than to Japan...it takes only 2hours from shanghai airport to narita airport...
Have you talked to Clip?I also havn't talked to him for quite a long long time...

Hi Angela,
Thank you fro your invitaion I accetped your invitaion so that we do chat by messenger!
As you may know I was from Osaka, have lived in Osaka where is in Kansai Area, why I haven't been to Kyoto nor Nara?
At the mo, I go to Nara 3 days a week, 3 times a month to teach small children English.
And I was used to go to Kyoto to learn English at the British Council ages ago.
I prefer Nara to Kyoto as it seems that Nara is much quiter and neat historical city than Kyoto to me.
I've been very lazy too I stayed still at home almost all day long unless I have something to do outside..... Though I have to do French homework, I haven't finish it yet cos I've been very sleepy as usual.
I haven't heard from Clip, neither. But it was bank holiday yesterday, so he might have enjoyed his weekend, so that he didn't have any spare time to pop into here
I'm sure he'll leave message to you sooner or later, so don't worry
How's your study going on? I hope everyghing is goig fine for you
Take Care and Enjoy Yourself,
Chat soon,

Because I thought I could not find it again, but now, I am really excited, for these several monthes I am really busy with my study, so I didnot try to get it back, but just right now, i was browsing the BBC website, and i entered here,i am so excited to find that the website had logged my name in automatically...I am so happy to see you again...^^
But I really should apologize to you and another Japanese lady who is very kind mother, I really miss you very much,,,part reason is I am busy with my study, as a foreign student here,,I really find that I have a lot of things to do,,and just recently, i am busy preparing my exam for graduate school...The exam really lay great stress on me, but anyway I will try my best...
So how are you recently? Are you still teaching in your friend's school? I really hope you would not be angry with me...How about your health? Tokyo is becoming colder and colder, that made me miss my family and friends very much, because I am living alone now. And about this half an year, I never leave Tokyo because the pressure of the exam...Now,,Japanese TV of Channel 1 is broadcasting SekiGuchi san's Travel in China by Train, do you know it? It is very good programme, I like it very much. You may have a look at it ...the website is: http://www.nhk.or.jp/tabi/
