Hi Taamyu. Just been reading about Japanese paper-free bidets. I've written about in on P[ost 214 of this thread: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/F48874?thread=3218143&post=39383676#p39383676 The source I was reading dsaid that 70% of Tokyo households have them. Is this true. Are they common elsewhere in Japan? BigAl

Hi Bigal
I'm not sure how many households now have them not only in Tokyo, but also in Osaka, my hometown.
But, I found that the rate/number of using bidet has highly increased compared with last decade, or the past.
We have now 2 toilet styles, Japanese style and Western style and the Western style has been seen more than Japanese style in big cities these days. and most of them has bidet (they have unbelievably many kinds of 'facilitities' that I don't understand how to use it. lol)
Nowadays, I guess lots of places have got toilet with bidet but at the same time they still put toilet paper as well (in my opinion, it because there are still lot of people like ME who don't use bidet and prefer toilet paper to it... ).
Especially at newly built flats, public buildings, put toilet with bidet on more than the older ones. And each house/family also now try to put bidet on their toilets. I think if they put a unbelievably fabulous bidet on their loo, they don't have to put toilet papaers, but they still put toilet paper in loo as well as bidets.
Believe you me, I am the one who never use bidet in my life, so if I find a paperless toilet when I go outside, I will find the other toilet/loo that has got toilet papaer
Does this help you to imagine our toilet condition???
It's still very sticky and hot here in Japan
I wish if the cool comfortable autumn couldl come TOMORROW
