opti you said you were a student, what do you study? i am not a student as of yet because i had a gap year. will be a fresher in a couple of weeks which sounds like it will be a constant blur was about to do a gap year in Australia Natai but thought it would be a bit tame seeing as its pretty delveloped. will make an effort to go there in the future though to ride a stingray! yay

ok I study 3 subjects now English, media and women's studies
what did you do on your gap year? I have chosen to have my gap year after uni and tour Europe
Freshers is good just don't hold back, go out there have a good time and have the best time of your life. I regret not going to the clubs with people who asked me to an extent.
Australia is all different and I'm sure you will find something of interest there. Not sure about it all being developed.
Oh I don't think you want to swim with stingrays ... does this mean you want to swim with sharks? was very nervous when I swam at the great barrier reef

just a thought would you like to role play a part in my story?

Erklehammerdrat Posted Sep 12, 2003
oh dear you shouldn't have got me started! i could go on for hours about my gap year
i went to south america with an organisation callled Raleigh International (very english i know) doing out-in-the-wilderness treking and primitive stuff. then i travelled around a bit doing stuff like hitch hiking, jungle treking, bungee jumping, sandboarding, land rovering through salt plains, and treking to glaciers, looking at sea lions, cruising the amazon while sleeping in hammocks. (sorry for the illogical order) great fun! most of my friends don't recommend talking about my gap year though as i'm so obsessed about how good it was.
taking a part in your story sounds fun but i could imagine it taking a bit of time. so i'm sorry and hope you don't take offence as i only usually spend at max a couple of hours on the internet as my time is limited preparing for uni and a lot of farewell drinking sessions to fit in.

you can talk to me about your gap year on msn if you have it
From what you have told me though it sounds fantastic i wish that i had the experiences you have had... don't fancy bungee jumping i'll leave that to natai i think

yes well i was travelling with a group of friends, and when i decided to split of from the group coz it was too big and do hitch hiking solo, they did sky diving immediately afterwards!! bastards! well hitch hiking was cool in its own kind of way... and i think i had more chance of dying from hitch hiking with dodgy lorry drivers for a week than one pesky little jump huh!

That actually is a tough call... hitchhiking vs skydiving... but then again I would rather hike the entire distance without any help (one day I will have to tell you all about my plan) so skydiving would probably win out
Bonjour Monsieur
Erklehammerdrat Posted Sep 16, 2003
thats crazy! hiking the distance you would normally hitch hike! i take it you havn't tried this kind of thing before. hitch hiking is the way to get anywhere for no money. hiking the same distance takes a LOT longer and is extremly boring because you would be walking along the road and you would feel disheatened by jeering locals passing by in their trucks. and it would take even longer if you didn't follow the road because roads take the shortest distance from town to town.

I think you are both nuts thinking about sky diving and hitch hiking. I would rather walk everywhere and have only the stars as my guides.

ha yes how romantic. and an army of guides, porters, and cooks to follow you too i suppose. erm well i grudgingly admit i paid for some assistance when hiking in the jungle. (only one guide porter and cook). its a dangerous place and its nice to come to a ready made hammock with mosquito net after a hard days trek

I wouldn't mind seeing a safari up close but I am afraid the weather would be too hot and that I would catch something! Like the jungle experience wouldn't mind being part of 'I'm not a celebrity but get me out of here'

oh god! thats about as authentic as going to the zoo. WHat you want to do is to make your own paths with a fat machete through dense jungle going where no man has gone before!! well thats what they told me anyway. (i loved that machete, it was as long as a short sword and nicely weighted at the end meaning you could chop down trees with it just for the hell of it!)

ok I don't agree with cutting down a place which we need!

oh come on it was fun! anyway i'm off to university now at Bristol, so i'm looking forward to experiencing something new (well it will be new up till the second weeks anyway) wish me luck. actually i don't need luck coz if i can deal with dodgy local taxi drivers trying to rip you off i can deal with anything. They are really bad trust me.
