Welcome, welcome, welcome, to the wonderful site of H2G2 (otherwise known as hootoo - you will see this word a lot). I am an <./>ACE</.>, and I'm here to help you settle into your new home

H2G2 is a living, breathing guide to Life, the Universe and Everything, and it's something YOU can take part in. You can write entries on all manner of subjects, and if it's something you think would look good in our Edited Guide (where all the best research goes), you can submit it to Peer Review. Take a look at the <./>writing-guidelines</.> for more information on that.

I've created a little list of links, just for you, so click here <./>A4992357</.> and have a look at them (actually the links are my daughters...but hey!! Hootoo is one big family )

If you click on each link, they will take you to parts of hootoo no sane person should ever go alone on this site.....

......but as it seems no one here is sane, it doesn't matter does it!

Have a look around, pop into my personal space and read some conversations that I have on the go at the moment and you will see how things work. Don't be frightened to jump in on conversations, hootooers don't bite (well, some of them do, but I'll steer you well clear of those), just be aware of the thread you are reading and whether or not it is a private conversation between two people.

This isn't exactly what I expected, but interesting nonetheless. I'm rather speechless at the moment, having just discovered H2G2. I'm not entirely certain I like the way it's turned out after five years or so. More digging is definitely in order.

I see you have stumbled into areas that might have upset you..


Please come away until you have more experience of the site. You will find there are people of all walks of life here, and some you wouldn't want to meet in Real Life

Please let me have an idea of your age and perhaps some of your likes and dislikes, I can then give you links where you will be looked after as you begin to find your way around hootoo

Actually, upset wouldn't be the word, nor disgusted or anything really negative. Just a slight sense of dissapontment that the Guide doesn't quite live up to my expectations as a useful and bizarre reference to, hmmm, how do I put this? Well, lif the universe and eveything, I suppose (in some places, read on!). Since my hasty reply, however, I have discovered more interesting material! I would rather like to stick around and see it's evolution.

When I originally read the books, I had envisioned something more like a combination of this and wikipedia along with say google earth (or maps, whichever you prefer). I think something like it will eventually come to pass but exactly when and where that will happen is beyond my considerable powers to predict

Dislikes? I waffle quite a bit.

The Edited Guide is about as far as Wikipaedia as you can get in here.

We also have other areas ie fun threads, or rpg's. This is as close was we can get to chat threads.

In your Message board, you will find you can leave the conversation and come back a week or so later and resume your conversation.

In the Community threads, you will find the topics tend to drift from the title subject after a while. So always read the last few pages before replying.. .. many times have I been caught out too!

Maybe I gave the wrong impression, Wikipedia is a great general reference but as such wipes out any vestiges of creativity that might be applied to an article. Definitely not looking for a replacement. This is getting deep, let's forget it.

Are you alright finding your way around hootoo?

Sure, I've been playing with the 'net since the age of 15. There's nothing seriously difficult about it, though it could be better organized and this skin is a bit hard on the eyes. The others don't seem to be much of an improvement, but I'll be experimenting.

Hours later.....

This place goes far deeper than I'd imagined. Beneath the deceptively simple top levels there lurks an incredible variety of various varieties. Quite easy to get lost for weeks at a time. I rather like the format now. It allows not only simple articles with comments but an entire array of forums dedicated to subjects that defy rational explanation. It's perfect.Now, how to take over

I have the unfortunate condition of residing in San Antonio, TX (US). This, mind you, is through no fault of my own. My escape attempts have been met by the swift and cruel punishment that only those powers that be can possibly inflict on an unsuspecting soul attemptimg to migrate. They've given me custody issues. The unmitigated b@$7@462 that 'they' are. Tell me, do you find simulated profanity offensive?

Not at all, as long as it isn't directed at me personally. Just be careful on open threads, we have a lot of youngsters.... I know..they could probably teach me a word or two.. but we try to keep some form of decorum in here..
